Come join the Small Business Engineering team as a Software Engineer. You will be working with the QuickBooks Experts team. This customer-centric team works on providing our Small Business customers with access to world-class Experts and Accountants using the QuickBooks Platform. You will be responsible for developing the software to serve millions of Small Businesses across the world, and software to help Bookkeepers serve them. You will be developing a Single Page Application using the latest JavaScript, CSS, and HTML technologies.

Along with coding, you will be responsible for working with product managers, backend developers, and designers on our agile team structure. We love product engineers who lead the charge, communicate with customers, and deliver the most beautiful, Intuitive application.

Responsibilities

• Be a core member of an engineering team that builds and supports amazing customer-facing products that provide innovative solutions to challenging. programming and design problems.
• Successful delivery of high-quality web software (requirements, design, code, documentation, etc. ).
• Roughly 80-95% hands-on coding.
• Contribute to early quality activities, including peer reviews of estimates, designs, and code.
• Resolve defects/bugs during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches.
• Partner effectively with all team members to deliver against commitments.
• Work cross-functionally with various Intuit teams: product management, QA/QE, various product lines, or business units to drive forward results.
• Commitment to team success and positive team dynamics.
• Passion for growing and applying technical skills in service to customers.
• Experience with Agile Development, SCRUM, and/or Extreme Programming methodologies.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 2 years of hands-on backend/ full-stack experience developing systems/software for large consumer applications.
• Strong experience with Java/J2EE.
• 1-year experience with consuming and creating web services (REST or SOAP).
• An understanding of unit testing and Test Driven Development (TDD).
• Strong CS fundamentals – data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience with the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience in Java, SQL, GraphQL, React, Apollo, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, preferred.
• Experience with AWS products (including EC2 S3 RDS), Docker, and Kubernetes, preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Experience developing, maintaining, and innovating large-scale, consumer-facing web applications.
• Experience with social, mobile, cloud/SaaS, big data, or analytics.
• Familiar with the development challenges inherent in highly scalable and available web applications.
• Experience with open source technologies (if no practical work experience w/ Big Data, or cutting edge front-end technology you’re prototyping and/or researching the up-and-coming technology and solutions.
• Experience with various, modern web frameworks.
