Job Description

Market Risk Technology is responsible for providing JP Morgan’s Risk Managers with the capability to assess the financial impact of various adverse market scenarios at a firm wide level. This capability covers calculations, scenario analysis, analytics, reporting and other tools and processes required to manage risk.

You’ll join an exciting team with a diversity of thought and deliver innovative solutions for our business while learning about a large range of financial products and some of the latest technologies out there. Our team develop the firm’s strategic Calculation (e.g. VaR, Stress), Time Series, and Scenario Management platforms for Firmwide Market Risk which integrate with our front-office risk management systems. You’ll develop in Python within our Athena platform and gain experience working in a distributed compute environment – we utilise thousands of grid-compute cores, and our Big-Data platform and eco-system.

As a developer on our team you will design, build, test and maintain systems that are crucial to the business. We work in an Agile environment, interfacing closely with the business, quantitative research analysts, and upstream as well as downstream technology teams across the firm. You’ll bring great ideas to the table, and both teach, and learn from the best as you build your career within our global team!

Qualifications

• BE/BTech Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Professional development experience with Python or Java (5-6 years)
• Professional development experience with SQL/NoSQL databases
• Knowledge of software engineering best-practice across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience with Athena is a plus.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are a must
• Experience with AWS will be a strong plus.
• Experience communicating to business facing customers and technical teams
• Ability to influence software engineering best practices.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills.
• Self-starter who is motivated to take ownership to drive projects and tasks
• Experience of Agile Methodologies (Scrum/Kanban, Test Driven Development etc)
