J.P. Morgan’s Global Research Center (GRC) in Mumbai was set up in August, 2003 as an extension of the Firm’s Global Equity Research teams around the world. Besides working with JP Morgan’s Equity Research teams, the analysts and associates in GRC are now engaged with other areas of public side research including Credit Research, Economics, Strategy, Credit Derivatives and Fixed Income Bond indices.
The Global Index Research Group is responsible for the ideation and management of its market leading Fixed Income indices across Developed, Emerging and Frontier markets. The group has expanded its reach to cover other asset classes and investing strategies, including ESG, Securitized and Commodities, to name a few. The team caters to large institutional asset managers and hedge funds, central banks, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.
We seek a candidate who has an aptitude for fixed income markets and is passionate about workflows and data analysis. The individual is expected to achieve a firm grasp of index products and function as the primary point of contact in the time zone. Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical.
Ideal candidates for these positions would be Engineering graduates who have a keen interest in the financial markets and business, with some experience in the financial services and aspirations to build a career in the domain.
Job Responsibilities
As part of the Asia franchise, the candidate would work with both internal stakeholders and external clients to educate them on the index products, any structural and tactical changes and the associated implications for the relevant markets resulting from these changes.
Work closely with internal commercialization teams to onboard new index clients, understand client requirements and provide viable benchmark solutions.
Assist in Index product development process through partnership with technology, operations and data vendors.
Participate in team publishing and reporting initiatives including thematic publications, monthly attribution, performance monitors and ad-hoc notes.
Ability to articulate ideas and thought processes to a global audience including team management and clients.
Manage functional oversight and engagement with the calculating agent team that manages the day-to-day operations for thousands of our indices in order to maintain product integrity.
Managing multiple high profile deliveries through effective project management, supporting the plan and execution, collaborating with internal/external subject matter experts and product owners.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Superb organizational skills, decisive priority management, strong teamwork ethic, ability to think locally & execute globally with high social awareness.
Clear, logical thinker with strong quantitative problem solving abilities.
Understanding of fixed income concepts, bond math, financial products, analytics, and an awareness of market events.
Good communication skills (both written and verbal). Experience interfacing with clients is a plus.
Ability to articulate ideas and thought processes to a global audience including team management and clients.
Familiarity with Market Data platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters would be a nice to have.
An exposure and interest in programing languages, preferably Python, would be a plus as would an experience with SQL & databases.
