Job Description

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for eliciting requirements, design and develop Big Data warehouse systems, using the latest technology approaches. Preparing written technical documents; developing complex extract/transform/load routines using pentaho ETL and Hadoop. Role will perform intensive data analysis; plan and conduct integrated testing of processes with Quality Assurance; and migrating releases into various Test, UAT and Production environments. Candidate must have the ability to work effectively in a demanding multi-project, multi-team environment. Must have strong scripting knowledge (SQL/Shell/Perl) and demonstrated experience with large multi-terabyte, warehouse systems. In addition, the Senior Data engineer performs non-development work to include production support specifically, monitoring scheduled jobs; reviewing the results to determine success/failure; providing up-to-date communication with the user community; and maintaining documentation. The successful candidate will have expert level understanding of various warehouse concepts, dimensional database concepts and data warehouse architecture. They will also Possess deep technical expertise in ETL design. You will participate in project teams including, operations, application developers and vendors, to improve technical infrastructure, security, reliability and cost.

• 8+ years minimum of database technology experience with concentration in Very Large Databases
• 4+ years design/architect for large scale Data Lake or data warehouses solutions, encompassing industry standard methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of multiple RDBMS, warehouse systems
• Knowledge of big data technologies like Hadoop/Spark & ETL tool integration experience with Hadoop file system desired
• Expert scripting knowledge (SQL/Shell/Perl)
• Strong experience with advanced design strategies and optimization techniques, using ETL tools such as Pentaho Data Integrator (also called PDI or kettle) and willing to work on newer tools like Nifi
• Nice to have prior experience building data pipeline using open source products using Java, flink and kafka.
• Develop and communicate best practices and coding standards ensuring adherence to sound data warehouse principles
• Possess strong communication and client management skills
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
