About the job: 

Kent is recruiting a Senior Product Owner on permanent basis based out of India. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with outstanding talent to join the Kent IT Product Factory Team. Ideal candidates will have a passion for technology. You will be part of a fast-growing, team using agile development processes to create world-class software products which will bring value to our customers. This role will require hands on story definition work and familiarity with software development. Experience with Scrum and agile processes is also a must. This individual will be a key player in the design and development of next generation Internet technology solutions aimed at solving our business problems in the areas of Engineering & Consulting, Completions, Commissioning & Start-ups, Operations & Maintenance & Project Management.



Your responsibilities:  

• Working in an Agile environment, writing user stories, creating product backlogs, prioritizing work, and performing story acceptance.
• Participate in the vision, design, and implementation of quality products.
• Develops the business case for new products, improvements to existing products, and business ventures.
• Interpreting business needs of customers and translating them into the application and operational requirements with the help of strong analytical & product mgmt. skills.
• Bridge the gap between product management team and engineering, distilling high level requirements into actionable plans that our software development team members can execute on.
• Bring a user perspective to the design of our products, ensuring that we deliver products that our customers want to use.
• Work with engineering teams to produce delivery estimates for new features and products.
• Work with the Business Sponsors, Function Champions, Group Delivery Head, Enterprise Architect and Product Development teams to manage dependencies.
• Become an expert on our products.
• Support internal training for new products and features.
• Continue to upgrade technical and personal skills through internal and external training.
• Work with publications team to help document features.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Skills Requirement and Qualification:

• Product development and product ownership mindset, with a focus on delivering business value.
• Strong experience in Agile and familiar with other development methodologies.
• Comfortable interacting with technical and business professionals at every level.
• Experience writing user stories, creating product backlogs, prioritizing work, and performing story acceptance.
• Experience with productivity tools and languages (Jira, Git, IDEs, scripting) is a plus.
• Object oriented design and development experience, integration with enterprise applications and systems/APIs (Java/REST/SOAP) is a plus.
• SAML, OAUTH and related security experience a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS EC2, Azure), REST, HTTP, and networking is a plus
• Experience or knowledge of Security practices, policies, and procedures
• Experience or knowledge delivering enterprise grade software applications
• Experience or knowledge with productivity tools and languages (Jira, git, IDEs, scripting).
• Experience or knowledge of Oil & Gas business processes is advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable interacting with technical and business professionals at every level.
• Experience or knowledge with multi-tenant architectures, cloud-based solutions, high availability solutions.
• Experience or knowledge of microservice architectures or distributed systems based in one of the cloud platforms (preferably Azure) with Java, JavaScript or similar languages is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical experience
• MBA in IT/Operations would be a plus
• Demonstrated success in product software development & management
• Minimum 5-7 years working in an enterprise product development delivery role.
• Minimum 2-3 years in hands-on software development using Internet technologies an advantage.
• 4-5 years of experience in Business Analyst or related field

Your Day-to-Day:

• Manage team backlogs, detailed requirements, and work with Agile teams at global product development centres to deliver quality solutions.
• Participate in the vision, design, and implementation of quality products.
• Bring a user perspective to the design of our products, ensuring that we deliver products that our customers want to use.
• Bridge the gap between our product management team and engineering teams to distil high level requirements into actionable plans that our expert developers can execute on.
• Work with the project management office and the release management teams on the release management process and reporting.
• Work with the Business Sponsors, Champions, Group Delivery Head, Enterprise Architect and Product Development teams to manage dependencies.
• Become an expert on our products.
• Support internal training for new products and features.
• Continue to upgrade technical and personal skills through internal and external training
