ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a member of our DBA team at Kibo, you will be responsible for installing, upgrading, administering, maintaining, and customizing our databases for both analysis and transactional environments. You will work closely with other information systems staff from various departments to support and implement a variety of applications, including the corporate-wide data warehouse environment, internally developed applications, and off-the-shelf software.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Maintain databases daily and implement proactive measures to optimize availability and performance

Document and manage processes, serve as a single point of contact for DB operations, and triage incoming requests

Continuously monitor the data tier for health and capacity, taking corrective actions as needed

Implement configuration control and release management for stored procedures and applications connecting to the databases

Ensure quarterly data retention on all databases is executed according to business rules

Schedule and manage annual activities and maintenance tasks independently

Monitor and remediate MS SQL batch processes

Perform database backups and restores

Rotate on-call shifts for critical event handling

Document processes and procedures for others to perform tasks

Use basic PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting skills to automate repetitive tasks and processes.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

3+ years of DBA experience in a production environment with one or more of the following database systems: MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server

Ability to troubleshoot database related performance issues

Experience developing data management operations.

Previous experience in a Software as a Service 7x24x365 environment including on-call rotation

Production and maintenance of high-quality operational documentation

Open to providing overnight and off-hours support as part of a support team

Ability to function well in a team working independently and with good communication skills

Nimble and adaptable in Database Admin environment

Cloud hosted databases such as AWS, GCS, and Azure

Experience using Linux command line

Familiarity with Monitoring systems such as Grafana, Spotlight, and Kibana a plus
