The Role

Within our Database Administration team at Kyndryl, you’ll be a master of managing and administering the backbone of our technological infrastructure. You’ll be the architect of the system, shaping the base definition, structure, and documentation to ensure the long-term success of our business operations.

Your expertise will be crucial in configuring, installing and maintaining database management systems, ensuring that our systems are always running at peak performance. You’ll also be responsible for managing user access, implementing the highest standards of security to protect our valuable data from unauthorized access.

In addition, you’ll be a disaster recovery guru, developing strong backup and recovery plans to ensure that our system is always protected in the event of a failure. Your technical acumen will be put to use, as you support end users and application developers in solving complex problems related to our database systems.

As a key player on the team, you’ll implement policies and procedures to safeguard our data from external threats. You will also conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage, ensuring that our system is always scalable to meet our business needs.

Who You Are

Experience: 7+ years of extensive experience with IBM DB2 LUW

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IBM DB2 LUW professional to join our team. As an IBM DB2 LUW Expert, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of our DB2 LUW databases. You will work closely with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and reliable database operations.

Responsibilities:Database Administration: Perform routine database administration tasks, including database backups, restores, maintenance plans, and security management. Monitor database performance, availability, and capacity to ensure high uptime and scalability.

Database Design and Development: Design, develop, and optimize DB2 LUW databases, tables, views, stored procedures, and functions to support application requirements. Ensure proper indexing, data organization, and schema design for optimal performance.

Performance Tuning and Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and database tuning to ensure optimal system performance. Implement best practices and industry standards for efficient database operations.

REORG / RUNSTATS. (How to analysis REORG / RUNSTATS are required on which table or not And how much time will take)

Kernel tuning db2 point of views (Linux based systems)

Troubleshoot and resolve data integration issues.

Database HA: HADR (Two Nodes / Multi Nodes => One primary and multiple secondary), Replication (Sql replication/Queue replication/CDC replication), Federation, TSA, Pacemaker.

Data Migration and Upgrades: Plan and execute database migration projects, including upgrading DB2 LUW versions, moving data between environments, and ensuring data integrity throughout the process.

Export data (Export / db2move / db2hpu / CDC replication), Approach to transfer data from source to target (rsync / scp / winscp), LOAD data (LOAD / db2move / db2hpu / CDC replication), Fix integrity issues, bind / rebind all packages, Move schema online in db.

Database Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, data encryption, and vulnerability assessments. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and data protection standards.

Db2 security model => Authorization, privileges, and object ownership. – Users, groups.

Authentication – Server, Client etc., standalone, LDAP.

Authorization –

System-level authorization – system administrator (SYSADM), system control (SYSCTRL), system maintenance (SYSMAINT), and system monitor (SYSMON)

Database-level authorization – security administrator (SECADM), database administrator (DBADM), database access control (ACCESSCTRL), database data access (DATAACCESS), SQL administrator (SQLADM), workload management administrator (WLMADM), and explain (EXPLAIN) authorities

Schema-level authorization – schema administrator (SCHEMAADM), schema access control administrator (ACCESSCTRL), and schema data access administrator (DATAACCESS) have the privileges to create and manage objects in a schema, LOAD (Schema load authority).

Object-level authorization – SELECT privilege on a table (as a minimum)

LBAC – Label-based access control (LBAC) lets the security administrator decide exactly who has write access and who has read access to individual rows and individual columns.

License compliance (How to generate license compliance report).

MEF

RCP tool => vulnerability scan / fix.

RCA creation (work experience nearest to change management team)

Work experinece to manage problem tickets.

work experince how to manage any changes (Implementation plan / roll back plan)

Work experience how to find gaps (Resiliency analysis / creation reports).

Work experience to design data flow analysis and (CMO) Current mode of operations and how to propose FMO (Future mode of operation) to optimize operations.

Cost analysis (how to save cost in terms of compute like eleminate CPUs / RAM (Memeory) / Storage)

Capacity planning => Growth (DB / Users) analysis.

Build infra experience => New infra build work experience (Privaye DC / Public Cloud / DC)

Infra build commision-decommision.

Administrative Task Scheduler routines and views (Implementation And Work experince).

DB2 workload manager concepts.

Automation

Scripting experience like in sh / ksh / Perl / python / Ansible etc.

Monitoring tool work experinece.

Nagios / Optim etc.

Troubleshooting and Support: Investigate and resolve database-related issues, such as performance problems, data corruption, and system failures. Provide technical support to development teams and end-users.

Preferred Qualifications:
IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2.

Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions in DB2 LUW.

Familiarity with IBM DB2 LUW on cloud-based platforms like IBM Cloud or AWS.
