Job Description

Operating System
a. Check drive / file system availability
b. Check resource utilization
c. Maintain connectivity to the server with opened ports including Telnet/FTP/SCP/SSH/MSTSC etc. using available tools
d. Review risk assessment of the supplier and contracts on a regular basis
e. Ensure that there is adequate IT capacity to meet required levels of service,
f. Ensure that senior IT management is correctly advised on how to match capacity is optimized
g. Analysis of usage and performance data, and reporting on performance against targets contained in SLA
Database Management
a. Create indexes, take back up
b. Generate performance reports using tools
c. Create, manage database files with guidance
d. Troubleshoot connectivity issues
e. Administer and alter security and audit parameters under guidance.
f. Troubleshoot authentication issues with guidance
g. Carry out patching under guidance / using SOP
h. Monitoring Alert and Trace files.
i. Design and deploy new database servers under minimal guidance according to the client requirements.
High Availability
a. Troubleshooting of High availability issues, under guidance / SOP.
b. Configure Database Mirroring and Log shipping
c. Communicate with L3 support for any issue.
Enterprise Management Tools – Native
a. Perform administrative jobs of database using enterprise management tool
b. Independently configure OEM on any OS platform.
c. Independently troubleshoot any issues with the Listeners, connect strings and sqlnet.ora file
Backup/Recovery
a. Perform back up / recovery under minimal guidance / using SOP
b. Proactive monitoring and administration of RMAN utility and its various parameters. c. Administer and alter security and audit parameters under guidance.
d. Manage different parameters used in Password file
Database Migration/Upgradation
a. Move the logins or individual database objects to the newer versions of various database versions and fix the compatibility levels feasibility between older versions and the new ones
b. Identify performance bottlenecks arising out of network issue & troubleshoot using networking add-on solutions.
Performance Tuning
a. Populate data into database tables using PL/SQL scripts according to business requirements.
b. Checking CPU consumption, IO Consumption and memory consumption of Database Servers.
PL-SQL Scripting
a. Release management for critical applications
b. Monitoring and support of critical applications – 2nd level support – Oracle Scripts for data ware house application
