The Microsoft mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As a Communications leader in our organization, you will play an integral part in positioning Microsoft as the most trusted and innovative partner in all markets around the globe, and, with AI (artificial intelligence) capturing the world’s attention, there has never been a more exciting time to be a Communicator at Microsoft.
The Corporate Communications Manager will be responsible for setting the strategy for and managing the execution of the India corporate communications plan. This will require good agency management skills. You should have a strong sense for news and how a story will play out in public.
This role will seize the opportunity to tell Microsoft’s story as a leader in AI and innovation and will be part of a global Communications team that is at the forefront of AI adoption. You will work alongside team members who are responsible for specific products, commercial and consumer propositions, employee communications and more. Your role will be to promote and defend the company’s overall image and reputation in India – particularly focusing on building trust and demonstrating innovation.
You will need to be able to span across the entire company, managing and owning breaking reputational issues and opportunities but also driving proactive, high-profile, and agenda-setting results too. This will involve working closely with multiple internal stakeholders across the India Senior Leadership Team, various businesses and many more. Reporting to the Director of Communications Microsoft India, this role is part of the Global Media Relations Organization and operates in partnership with India leadership team.
Responsibilities
Act as a leader and trusted advisor within Microsoft by advancing and protecting the corporate image and reputation by identifying opportunities to positively shift the perception of the Microsoft brand, and correct inaccuracies when they occur.
You will be comfortable with managing fast-moving and highly ambiguous problems. You will have good relationships with the most senior Indian journalists, across not only technology but ideally also business and policy areas – as well as non-media influencers.
You will have a deep understanding of India, its culture, its political economic and media environment, and the local relevance for Microsoft’s business.
You will have the ability, experience, and the credibility to counsel senior executives, up to and including the CEO but also the attentiveness and emotional intelligence to work well with anyone in the business.
A strong blend of defensive safety and opportunistic bravery (as well as a keen appreciation of when to use each) will be an asset in this role. Your storytelling skills will be second to none and you will need to drive your own proactive opportunities, using the unique opportunities of the Indian media and technology markets.
