Job Brief: Advertising Copywriter

Candidate should have 5+ years of writing copy for commercial ads, film scripts, social media captions & digital.

Major Responsibilities:

• Looking for an Advertising Copywriter who can write copy for ads. (If your idea of advertising copywriting is synonymous with – content writing, using rhyme/poetry or copy-pasting text from the web in conjunction with a thesaurus, don’t bother applying).
• Work in partnership with an art director to form a creative team working on creative brief.
• Handle multiple client accounts, working on several campaigns at once, sometimes under pressure and often to tight deadlines.
• Familiarize with clients’ products and services, the target audience, and their competitors’ activities.
• Liaise with clients and interpret their briefs.
• Write clear, persuasive, original copy through the various iterations of the project.
• Proofread copy to check spelling and grammar.
• Amend, revise or redevelop adverts or campaigns in response to feedback from the creative director, account team, or clients.
• Keep up to date with popular culture and trends.
• Monitor the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

Qualification

• Although copywriters come from a range of backgrounds, creativity and the ability to write well are key requirements. A Graduate degree in one of the following subjects may increase your chances:
• creative advertising
• communication or media studies
• English
• journalism
• public relations.

Required Skills

• Must be able to think of concepts for communication & advertising across media & industry.

• Must have the ability to articulate thoughts & put ideas into words.

• Must be able to understand brand tonality & styles of writing.

• Should be able to work individually & with art teams.

• Should be able to understand & follow creative direction.

• Command over English with correct grammar & punctuation.

• An eye for detail – proof reading or editing their own work towards improvement will go a long way.
