Duration of Appointment: Fixed term of 1-year for Research Associate/ 2-years for Consultant, extendable by a year and terminable by 3-months’ notice from either side; starting around September 2022.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate should have at least a Master’s degree in Economics

Skill sets in applied econometrics with familiarity of economic databases and econometric software such as Eviews, Stata, and R will be needed

Proficiency in Microsoft packages, especially with Excel, including macros, Power Point and Word

Desirable Qualification

Recently acquired M.Phil. or PhD degree or finishing PhD and needs a Job Market Paper

Some work experience as a junior economic analysts/ research assistant, preferably in a financial institution/ research organisation will be an added plus.

Good drafting skills and prior experience in writing research reports/papers would be an added advantage.

Benefit to the candidate:
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with market standards based on selection commensurate with qualifications and experience. The benefits do not carry any housing.

The position envisaged is that of ‘Research Associate’. However, PhDs or economists with 1-2 years of work experience can be considered for the position of ‘Consultant’.

Candidate would get an opportunity to directly work with IEPF Chair Professor at NCAER who is a former Executive Director (Research) and a former member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) at the Reserve Bank of India.

Job Profile

This role requires maintaining macroeconomic databases, analyzing new data releases, undertaking small surveys on investor protection besides participating in research related to financial regulation, investor protection, microstructure of equity, money, debt, currency and insurance markets, Indian and global macroeconomics with applications using applied and financial macro econometrics. The candidate will directly work with the IEPF Chair Professor at Mumbai Centre and interact remotely with the NCAER team in Delhi. He/She will be encouraged to engage in preparing reports, policy notes, blogs, discussion papers in the indicated areas and also further the work of interest to Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) and regulators including RBI, SEBI, IRDA, PFRDA. He/She will also participate in NCAER’s institutional engagements that will include reports on the economy, collaborative research projects, help in organizing webinars/round-table discussions/seminars around crucial macro-economic issues and other topics of interest. He/She will be expected to maintain good rapport with other research staff of NCAER.
