Northrop Grumman’s Enterprise Services (ES) organization is seeking a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Operations administrator.
This position will be virtual remote and can be performed anywhere within the continental United States.
The VDI Ops admin will be responsible within the ES organization for supporting the NG enterprise VDI service across multiple cloud environments (currently Azure and AWS) and on premises. This includes supporting the activities for VDI cloud development, adoption and integration at an enterprise level with a focus on the mission and customer needs of all NG sectors and external partners.
The enterprise service is moving from VMware Horizon to Citrix. This individual will have in depth experience with VDI technologies, and public Cloud (AWS and Azure). The ideal candidate will have the capability of administrating and maturating large enterprise VDI services.
The VDI Ops admin will take responsibility to drive processes improvement through DevOps and automation. The VDI Ops Admin will also collaborate and team with other technical SMEs, business stakeholders, and functional organizations across NG.
Responsibilities include:
Support Northrop Grumman Enterprise Virtual Workspace (EVW) environment both on premises and in public cloud (AWS and Azure).
Resolve assigned incident tickets within predefined SLAs
Maintain operation of Citrix and VMware farms by coordinating with Vendors, Engineering and other internal teams.
Maintain system documentation and knowledge based (KBs).
Aid the development of a well-informed Enterprise VDI strategy, manage the adoption process and implementation strategies.
Promotes adaptive design and modern practices across the enterprise portfolio, facilitating the reuse of ideas, components, services, and proven patterns.
Responsible for implementing best practice VDI architectures for the enterprise VDI service, to include providing expertise migrating legacy VMware Horizon infrastructure and applications to the Citrix Cloud; using industry best practice Agile-DevSecOps methodologies or strategies.
Provide expertise with VMware to Citrix migrations.
Regularly update VDI infrastructure, applications, and software.
Work closely with VDI Engineering to monitor and refine the enterprise service.
Work closely with IT security to monitor and refine the VDI Service security framework.
Responsible for ensuring that all VDI solutions comply with industry and Government mandated security protocols and best-practices; working closely with our Information Security Service line.
Responsible for escalating issues, problems, risks, and constraints to the appropriate levels for clarification and resolution.
Responsible for communication with Operations Team lead and managment.
Responsible for keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Experience automated, fault-tolerant, scalable Cloud environments adhering to best practices.
Maintain VDI Cloud Infrastructure in Optimal Configuration from both technical and budgetary perspectives
Experience refactoring or rebuilding on-premises VDI applications/infrastructure and migration to Public Cloud (AWS and Azure initially)
Deploy, test and document development, pre-production, and production environments
Improve the operational capabilities of enterprise infrastructure
Support the investigation of reported and suspected outage issues, documenting issue, resolution, maintaining a knowledge base of known issues
Gain a technical understanding of the existing VDI environments and workloads that are targeted to migrate to Citrix cloud, taking note of any potential gaps or risks.
Participate technical discussions, work collaboratively with others, and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
On-Call every for 4-6 weeks – will need to be near phone and computer to support outages and other high priority incidents. Other Occasional after-hours support for maintenance that can’t be done during the day.
Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant IT professional experience OR Master’s Degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant IT professional experience OR Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant IT professional experience OR High School Diploma with a minimum of 7 years of relevant IT professional experience.
Experience with Citrix design, execution and supporting of VDI based solutions.
Experience with Cloud design, execution and supporting of Cloud based solutions.
Demonstrated knowledge of Cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
Hands-on experience with cloud-based and/or cloud-native solutions in production workloads.
Experienced with Windows and Linux OS
Experience working in a DevSecOps environment with teams.
Experience communicating complicated VDI designs to management and other IT development partners.
Experienced in configuring and maintain gold images for VDI environment
Experienced with Citrix environment (NetScaler, ADC, FAS, Storefront)
Ability to create/publish secure applications
Experienced in administering group policies in support of CITRIX VDI environment
Experienced with PowerShell and Citrix PowerShell scripting
Experienced in automation of tasks in support of VDI environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Experienced in designing and administering Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD,WVD)
Experienced in designing and administering Citrix Virtual Apps/desktops in a cloud environment (Citrix/Azure Cloud)
Experience using Amazon Web Services, including using AWS native services (Cloud Formation, S3, etc.).
Understanding of Agile (SAFe), DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is strongly desired.
AWS or Microsoft Cloud Certification
At least 3 years in enterprise Cloud deployments desired
Multiple Cloud platforms (Commercial and Government) – AWS, Azure, Google, IBM
Experience cloud automation services
Experience with Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) tools
Agile (SAFe) experience preferred
Salary Range: $68,100.00 – $102,100.00Salary Range 2: $83,800.00 – $125,800.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
