Position: Nursing Officer – ICU (Surgical Cases)

Location: Bharat Charitable Hospital Deoband

Department: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Job Summary:

The Nursing Officer – ICU (Surgical Cases) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU, particularly those recovering from surgical procedures. The role involves close monitoring of patients, administering medications, assisting in life-saving procedures, and coordinating with the medical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Monitoring:

• Provide 24/7 critical care nursing support to post-surgical ICU patients.
• Monitor vital signs (BP, ECG, oxygen levels, etc.) and respond to any complications.
• Assist in mechanical ventilation, intubation, and airway management.
• Maintain strict infection control protocols to prevent post-operative infections.
• Assist in managing patients with multi-organ failure, sepsis, and post-surgical complications.

Medication & Treatment Administration:

• Administer IV fluids, injections, blood transfusions, and pain management drugs as per doctor’s instructions.
• Handle emergency resuscitation (BLS/ACLS), CPR, and defibrillation in critical situations.
• Ensure proper wound care, dressing changes, and management of surgical drains.

Equipment & ICU Operations:

• Operate and troubleshoot ICU medical equipment (ventilators, infusion pumps, monitors, etc.).
• Assist in surgical procedures, bedside interventions, and emergency management.
• Maintain accurate ICU patient records and reports for case management.

Team Coordination & Communication:

• Work closely with surgeons, anesthetists, intensivists, and other healthcare staff for seamless patient care.
• Educate patients’ families on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and hospital protocols.
• Participate in ICU rounds, clinical meetings, and training sessions to stay updated on latest protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree/Diploma: B.Sc. Nursing or GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery) from a recognized institution.
• Certification: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) & BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of ICU experience, preferably in surgical cases.
• Skills: Critical thinking, emergency response, multitasking, and excellent teamwork abilities.
