Required Technical Skill Set- IBM storage/Hitachi AND/OR Symantec Netbackup/Tivoli Backup (VTL)/Veritas/ VMware/ AIX logical partitions (LPARs)/ Solaris Zones/ CommVault/TSM, tape drives/libraries (IBM and Quantum)/ Data Domain Enterprise platform/ storage devices (RAID arrays)/ storage area networks/fiber cabling/ SAN switches/zoning /HBAs (SCSI and Fiber)/ NICs, network (Ethernet).
Description:
As NetBackup Advisor, you will administer a very large NetBackup environment for one of our most critical accounts. In addition, you will be asked to leverage your deep technical knowledge to help ensure the availability, reliability, scalability, and manageability of the data management environment.
Architecture and Design:Assist in implementing NetBackup backup solutions for our customerExperience with using various virtualization technologies on multiple platforms such as VMware, AIX logical partitions (LPARs), Solaris Zones, etc.Implementing, using, and troubleshooting backup and recovery Net Backup 6.X and 7.x Platform. Additional experience with CommVault/TSM is a plus.Knowledgeable in industry standards when performing backup and recovery application operations, upgrades, and installations.Analyze complex backup and recovery requirement situations and then design, test, and implement a viable solution that aligns to corresponding service level requirements, operational support, and backup and recovery requirements of that solution; this position will identify and align an appropriate solution response to the situation.Knowledgeable in various backup and recovery methods which are configurable by various backup/recovery products including full/differential/incremental, “incremental forever”, block-level, file-level, bare metal recovery, etc.Experience and understanding of various high availability implementation mechanisms, Windows clustering.Regulatory requirements awareness and capabilities to implement retention, media handling, encryption, or other policies to meet requirements.Engineering Operations:Follow Standard Operating Procedures for new opportunities, technology updates, etc.Work directly with operating system and database administrators, application support and customers to provide updates, information and resolve issues as needed.Identify, troubleshoot, and document varied complicated technical issues on multiple platforms and applications. Able to identify situations requiring vendor support staff and work with them effectively.Capabilities of leading/participate in projects that include architecting, testing, and implementing enterprise-scale backup and recovery solutions involving hardware and software from multiple vendors and across multiple fields of expertise (network, O/S, SAN, tape, RAID, application, databases).Experience in the use, implementation, and troubleshooting of hardware and equipment commonly used in backup and recovery environments such as tape drives/libraries (IBM and Quantum), Data Domain Enterprise platform, storage devices (RAID arrays), storage area networks/fiber cabling, SAN switches/zoning, HBAs (SCSI and Fiber), NICs, network (Ethernet), Veritas NetBackup Appliances.Practical experience with performing backups and recovering applications, databases, and operating systems.Experience and understanding of Ethernet and similar networking concepts and technologies. Able to identify and help resolve network performance problems and bottlenecks such as with switch/ports, NIC settings, and the like.Able to analyze and troubleshoot backup and recovery performance issuesLarge Enterprise Netback-up 6.x and 7.x Deployment/ administration
