Job Title: Consultant, Centre for Inclusive Mobility

Location: Delhi-NCR

Position type: 4-5 months contract

About OMI Foundation:

OMI Foundation Trust is a new-age policy research and social innovation think tank developing knowledge frameworks at the intersection of mobility innovation, governance, and the public good. Our interdisciplinary work is housed across three centers: The Centre for Inclusive Mobility, the Centre for Clean Mobility, and the Centre for Future Mobility. We develop evidence-based policy recommendations on the themes of the future of work and platform economy, accessibility and inclusion, sustainable urban mobility, electric mobility, and energy and mobility.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be an integral part of the Centre for Inclusive Mobility at OMI that informs policymaking in India and elsewhere on the core subject of the Future of Work (FoW) and Platform Economy (PE).

Your scope of work includes:

Research (70-80% of the time)

1. Conduct relevant, cutting-edge, and scientifically robust socio-economic and political research on issues and developments on and around the future of work and platform economy (FoW and PE) including social protection, collective bargaining, financial inclusion, gender and disability inclusive livelihood, etc.
2. Develop knowledge frameworks taking the shape of flagship reports, AI/ML-powered tools and dashboards, books and book chapters, monographs, white papers, issue briefs, policy briefs, etc.

Strategic engagements and communications (20-30% of the time)

1. Contribute to and guide national, bilateral, multilateral, regional, state-level, and city-level policies on the adoption of OMI’s knowledge frameworks through sustained engagement with various government and non-government stakeholders
2. Forge and strengthen relationships with state and city governments on projects OMI can implement and demonstrate tangible impact
3. Advance collective understanding of FoW and PE through curation of policy dialogues, participation at events hosted by relevant stakeholders, the release of multimedia content like explainer videos and podcasts, publishing of opinion editorials in the media, engagements on social media, etc.

Skills and qualifications:

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in one or more of the following disciplines: public policy, labor and industrial relations, economics, sociology, political science, development studies, journalism, and other related fields
• 6 to 8 years of experience in policy research, strategic engagements & communications, public policy & advocacy, preferably, within research organizations/ think tank, corporate public policy, public administration, law firms, trade associations or non-governmental organizations, international/ multilateral organizations, media houses, etc.
• Proven ability to develop partnerships for research, communication, and strategic engagements
• Outstanding written and oral communications and editing skills; proven ability to position issues effectively, both orally and in writing
• Demonstrated skill in effectively working with different stakeholders within and outside the organization and creating an enabling working environment
• A highly organized and detail-oriented thinker who can juggle multiple, competing priorities
