The Opportunity:
Our observability and automation organization is seeking a Systems Engineer with varied experience. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Unix system administrator with at least five years of experience in an enterprise environment. As a Systems Engineer, successful candidates will be expected to manage tasks and processes utilizing technical skills to address daily operational concerns. The team is responsible for enterprise infrastructure automation and monitoring services in our commercial delivery environments.
You are great at:
Daily system administration tasks maintaining hundreds of servers in various environments.
Use of system automation tools including Ansible, Chef, and Puppet.
Delivery of Infrastructure as Code via Terraform and similar tools.
Scripting/Programming and the review of such work by others.
Production support, change control, problem, and escalation management.
Review of completed work toward process improvement.
Provide technical expertise in planning, design, and execution of system maintenance.
Proactively identify resource requirements, including capacity, inventory concerns, and upgrade recommendations.
Adherence to company policies and directives governing system change control.
Evangelize the use of Open-Source software.
What it takes:
Computer science or Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
10+ years of system administration experience.
5+ years enterprise environment experience.
Expertise in design, building and support of data tooling infrastructure.
Monitoring tools: OBM, Zabbix, Nagios, New Relic, Thousand Eyes, etc.
Expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Comfort with modern Microsoft Windows OS versions.
IaC fundamentals: Terraform, Cloud Formation
Fluency in at least one of Bash, Python, PHP, Perl, or Java.
AWS, GCP, Azure, or Hashicorp certifications.
