Job Description

OJVM group is also responsible for developing and maintaining the Java virtual machine which resides in Oracle database. This JVM runs as part of RDBMS runtime. We develop and maintain the JVM runtime, JDK libraries, native implementations of libraries, JIT compiler, JMX set of libraries and so on. The support of Java inside the RDBMS is very critical for Oracle and is used by several products. This is a big and complex setup to work with and the work done is cutting edge in compiler and JVM technologies.

The team is geographically distributed with presence in the US and India. The group provides the right environment for engineers interested in technical challenges and has some of the most technically brilliant minds working for it.

You will be working with state of the art in compiler and virtual machine technologies.

You will have good understanding of algorithms and data structures and good command over Java and C programming language.

It will be nice if you are a computer science graduate and have a background in compilers/debuggers/profiles or VMs, but, it is not a must.

You should understand and practice secure coding.

It would be good if you knew about fundamentals of RDBMS.

Experience with scripting language like PERL and scheme, with utilities like gmake and with operating systems like Linux and Windows is desirable.

You will get exposure to working on technologies like JIT compilation, native implementations of various JDK libraries like JAX-*, JMX, and all of the JDK set of libraries. You will get to work on tools like debuggers, profilers and would also be able to keep up with latest java specifications requests (JSRs) on various topics.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
