Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Oracle Essbase – Provider Services is the mid-tier component for the Essbase suite and consists of Essbase Java API, SmartView Provider and XMLA (standard for data access in analytical systems). The mid-tier is responsible for simplifying, exposing and exhibiting the Essbase features. We are also responsible for ensuring compatibility between the various Essbase tools and multiple Essbase versions. We deal with handling huge amounts of data over TCPIP and HTTP protocols. This is a stable and secure product deployed as part of customer in-house deployments and Oracle Cloud applications. The team has the unique opportunity of leveraging the technical aspects of software programming and functional aspects of the analytical domain.

Position description

We are looking for Software Engineers with strong technical background who will work closely with the team leaders, product/program managers, developers and release managers to release the next generation of Oracle Essbase. You will build, develop, unit-test, troubleshoot and debug software programs for mid-tier products. Duties include debugging Java, C, C++, Shell code for different Platforms. As part of the mid-tier, you will interact with other component teams and involved in analyzing and debugging customer escalations. You will extensively use distributed build architecture, configuration management and continuous integration like Jenkins. You will specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software to meet changing requirements.

About you

• Your intellectual curiosity, technical subject matter expertise, and business acumen define you as a highly respected software engineer who has a passion to debug complex issues and an urge to find the underlying cause of every failure.

• You have working experience of JAVA, c and J2EE application servers.

• You are good at product development and can use scripting (shell, perl).

• You have experience using configuration management tools and continuous integration tools like Jenkins.

You are highly organized with very strong analytical skills, can prioritize multiple tasks, are very articulate both verbally and in written formats, can communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, and have excellent attention to detail

Your responsibilities

As a member of the Oracle Essbase – Provider Services team, you will:

• Use in-house source code control and distributed builds and testing tools.

• Develop and debug code using Java, build scripts for standalone and J2EE Weblogic application servers

• Unit test using in-house testing frameworks

• Participate in defect and issue resolution process

• Work and interact with extended teams that are local and in other countries

• Ensure product stability and resolve product defects

• Resolve customer escalations

• Understand the domain and contribute to the product development

Preferred Skills and Background

• B.E / M.E / B.Tech in CS or equivalent from reputed universities with consistently good academic record with 8+ years of experience in Software development.

• Thorough knowledge of Source Code Control System like GIT

• Thorough Knowledge of Java, JavaScript frameworks, HTML.

• Sound knowledge of Data structures, threads, sockets and IO streams

• Experience with Weblogic application server, java performance tools

• Experience with Linux and Windows

• Experience with Maven, Ant, Shell scripting.

• Exposure to Hudson/Jenkins.

• Creative, Team-oriented, Quick Learner, and Driven to produce results.

• Exposure to Oracle DB and other Oracle Products.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience working with a globally distributed team.

• Great debugging skills, self-starter.
