Purpose of the role
We are creating a new market category for the enterprise AI System pushing to become the global market leader. As a DevOps Engineer at this fast growth scale up you’ll be responsible for the architecture, infrastructure, automation, and security at Peak.
If you are a person who loves tech, are proficient in building and supporting infrastructure for SaaS products in the cloud (i.e. Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure etc.) there is no better place for you to be, than at Peak.

The Role
Working at the forefront of technology and getting stuck into cutting edge services (we often get early access to AWS beta release previews) means that most people are unlikely to tick all the boxes from day one. As long as you have a good background and some experience of the tools and services mentioned, and most importantly a drive and determination to learn new things quickly you’ll be ready to dive right in.
At Peak. It is all about ensuring that AI is available for all, by making the workflows of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and AI engineers easy! You’d get involved in things like:

• Helping Product teams automate the infrastructure to support an end to end AI platform used to ingest data, explore and visualise data before simplifying deployment of Machine Learning models into production.
• Support the Integration engineers performing data Loads using the Peak AI System.
• Building infrastructure to support bespoke data pipelines using EMR and Apache Spark.
• Maintaining and securing multiple AWS Accounts.
• Hands on working with from 50+ AWS services.
• Access control, tagging and cost optimisation.
• Helping Data Science Teams to make sure they have the best infrastructure available to do their work.

Skills & Experience

• We’re looking for someone with previous experience as a Devops engineer or System Administrator, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Platform engineer or in a role demonstrating suitable similar skills
• Hands on experience or practice with AWS, shell scripting/UNIX, Cloudformation and Python
• Direct experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) products such as Kinesis, Lambda, Code Pipeline, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, RDS, Elasticbeanstalk
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration tools like ECS, Kubernetes or Mesos
• Experience in building and managing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery Pipelines
• Excellent communication skills and real team player
• A good foundation in programming and application design
• Good in solving complex problems and ability to learn new things quickly
• You must be somebody who keeps up to date with the latest technology and software engineering practices.

Any experience of the below would be advantageous:

• Previous experience in big data tools such as Apache Spark/Hadoop, Kafka, data processing and analytics
• Experience with Serverless concepts
• Application and Network Security

The Team
You’ll be working with a smart and driven team of engineers, with a diverse background of devops, data engineering, full stack development, system administration and product support. You’ll also work closely with other teams such as Data Science and Customer Success making sure that customer operations run smoothly.

As an AWS Machine Learning and Retail competency partner, that is where we host our infrastructure. Be ready to dive into the inner workings of the platform to debug and resolve issues, we want our Platform Support Engineers to be as autonomous and self-sufficient as they can be, continuously learning and getting practical experience of our favourite technologies.
