Pearson’s Global Editions programme (based in the UK and India) is in place to publish US originated products in versions adjusted to the needs of worldwide markets outside North America.
In this unique role, the Assistant Editorwill be responsible for developing content that meets the highest quality, time, and cost standards. This is a unique opportunity to work on some of Pearson’s best Higher Education print and digital products globally, customize them to suit the needs of various international markets, and to see them through right from the content creation and development stage to their production.
Key Responsibilities
Developing content that meets the highest quality, time, and cost standards
Working with contributors and Editorial, Production, and Technology colleagues to deliver high-quality publications, and their related supplements, in a timely fashion
In collaboration with internal stakeholders, developing a product plan for print and digital.
Ensuring that all key milestones and schedule on all projects are met and proposing alternative plans to keep projects on schedule as required.
Creating and maintaining contracts, contributor databases, payments and internal systems as required,
Establishing strong and clear communication within the Global Editions team, and with Pearson colleagues around the world
Negotiating with authors and contributors, freelancers, project teams, text and cover designers, and Production and Manufacturing colleagues
Assessing, planning, and preparing print and digital manuscripts/contributions for publication
Ensuring material is appropriate to the different cultural sensitivities of a global audience and that it conforms to Pearson’s diversity, equity, and inclusion guidelines
Ensuring that all content is accessible for all users
Checking proofs and versions at all stages
Taking a proactive role in driving a project forward at all times
Qualifications
Desired Skills and Experience
You might currently be in Editorial, Production, Sales, Marketing, or Product Development. You will have a track record of success and be able to demonstrate the right qualities to take on this unique role. You may also have experience of working in an international publishing environment, although not essential. You will be expected to:

work closely with content contributors, freelance copy-editors, and vendors
shape and develop ideas into successful, saleable material
be market-focused and commercially driven
