We are seeking a professional DBA with the technical skills and knowledge that extends across Application/ Server/ Storage/ Network technologies to administer a large, complex production DB environment and troubleshoot and provide system level guidance/ solutions. The role also performs effective centralized database administration for multiple databases globally. This includes Oracle databases for production, testing, and staging environments across the company. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
Ensure that risks to the business or database services are proactively identified and are properly managed.
Provide support for the Oracle Comverse Databases.
Monitoring of performance of both online and batch environments at the business units to ensure a highly performing system
Scheduled database maintenance for security, capacity planning and performance tuning
Provide disaster recovery services to the London systems
Perform data migrations for new business systems
Provide consultancy to the business units in all matters relating to the OpenVMS systems, Oracle Rdb databases, Liberate application performance and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
Design, develop, implement and maintain our core Oracle
Maintain our SQL / PLSQL
Ensure DB
Proactively manage and maintain security standards and
Actively seek to optimize and simplify our
Take ownership of performance and capacity monitoring aspects of the
Execution of data migration jobs and scripts as
Assist the infrastructure team in sizing hardware used for the
Support and collaborate with product
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery
Create a reliable backup strategy. Ensure database backups are appropriately executed and periodic restorations are exercised to ensure backup
Determine and document DB policies, procedures and Performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy and Identification of bottle necks and deadlock issues.
Ensure SLA’s & operational KPI’s are met, working as necessary with interna and external support functions when major incidents
Experience:
A thorough understanding of database administration with the Oracle and Microsoft Database tool sets
Experience of production support and development database administration
Knowledge of Telecom Billing applications
Requirements:Technical Skills:
A thorough understanding of database administration with the Oracle and Microsoft Database tool sets.
5+ yrs experience of OpenVMS, Oracle Rdb including DCL
Ideally experience of ACMS, CDD and CMS
Good communications skills.
