General Summary:
Qualcomm IT is seeking an experienced engineer in the Storage domain to support operations for our global footprint.
Job Description:
This person will be a member of a global 24/7/365 IT infrastructure operations team focused on enterprise backup and recovery. This role specifically is focused primarily on administrating and providing support for Enterprise data protection and self-service restores. Our IT engineers can expect to work with cutting edge technology in a large, fast-paced, and dynamic enterprise environment.
Responsibilities:Provides T1/T2 support to the Veritas NetBackup backup, NetApp snapmirror backups, Rubrik / Igneous and Cohesity infrastructure.Monitor and troubleshoot service availability, capacity, and reliabilityPerform restore & ediscovery requests as requiredPerform system maintenance such as OS and application patchingCapacity planning for service architecture including licenses and storage usageLifecycle management for device archivesInterface with other internal IT teams and external vendors for partnering and supportAttend internal operational review meetings to gather feedback, address issues, address concernsConduct monthly meetings with vendor support on service quality, operational issues, roadmap, etc.Use, create, update scripts & dashboards used to increase efficiency, spot trends, and reduce errorsMaintaining documentation and knowledge base (Confluence, Sharepoint, Servicenow Knowledge Base) for both service desk and Tier 2 operations consumptionKPI & compliance reportingExperience with these tools and technologies preferred:Veritas NetBackup 8.X.X.Oracle and Spectralogic tape libraries.Intermediate level knowledge on NAS and SAN technologies.Netapp clustermode operations (with focus on data protection options like Snapmirrors).Cohesity Data protect.Operating systems like Linux and Solaris.Aptare Reporting or custom reporting.Automation using any one of (Python, Perl or Shell).Basic knowledge on Ansible is desired.
‘• Sound knowledge in end-to-end backup / storage activities
Manage systems to provide insight into utilization, and configuration Ability to manage/handle Sev 1 tickets on priority and work in night shifts.Analytical/problem solving ability. Time management and organizational skills Ability and desire to learn new skills quicklyExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written
‘• 5 years of relevant Backup technologies. Prefferably Netbackup
