Royal Society of Chemistry Looking For Head of Innovation, Strategy and Government Affairs (India and South Asia) at Bengaluru North, Karnataka, Full Time

We have an exciting opportunity to join our India team as Head of Innovation, Strategy and Government Affairs, India and South Asia. This is a vital role forming part of the management team in India responsible for public policy, government affairs and engagement activities in India.

This role works closely with the Managing Director, India and South Asia and directorates in the UK to support and implement the strategy, programmes and resource plan to meet the overall priorities for India.

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to building strong relationships with senior external stakeholders across government ministries, corporates and academic institutes with the senior leadership members, and representing RSC at these consortia and programmes.

At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at our Bangalore office, you will also be able to work from home within India, with the expectation that you will attend our offices and travel as needed for your role. What we are looking for

• PhD in the chemical sciences or allied discipline and/or equivalent experience essential.
• Evidence of a significant network of relevant senior scientists, policy makers, and industry leaders.
• Significant experience of successfully managing high-profile projects and major international programmes of work.
• Proven management and strategic leadership experience in the engagement, government and policy sector coupled with experience of managing successfully across matrix teams.
• Evidence of ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders on complex issues.
• Experience in thought leadership, partnership and co-development of ideas with diverse stakeholders across sectors and levels.
• A broad and in-depth, up to date knowledge of the political and scientific landscape.
• An understanding and appreciation of cultural differences between different countries, particularly the UK and India, and the ability to incorporate these into activities.
• Fluent in English, Hindi, and (at least) one other Indian language.
