The Role

The Scrum Master is a servant-leader for the Scrum Team helping everyone understand Scrum theory, practices, rules, and values. The Scrum Master helps those outside the Scrum Team understand their interactions with the Scrum Team. Live 3Ps (Process Owner, Problem Solver, Protector)

• Supporting the Product Owner, Project Manager and Scrum Team to deliver value overall
• Guiding the Scrum Team on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values and on how to get the most out of self-organization
• Taking ownership of day to day delivery by:
  • Facilitating Sprint Planning, involving relevant stakeholder, using Definition of Ready (DoR)
  • Conducting Daily Scrum meeting with the Project Team
  • Supporting the Product Owner in Product Backlog refinement throughout the Sprint
  • Guarding the team from external disturbances and keeping their focus on achieving Sprint Backlog commitments
  • Helping the team in solving day-to-day impediments
  • Facilitating Sprint Demo involving relevant stakeholders. Guide the team to make effective use of Definition of Done, as a preparation to Sprint Demo.
  • Conducting effective Sprint Retrospectives to help team inspect and adapt to new ways of working.
• Escalating timely to Project Manager/Product Manager/Product Line Manager on impediments that need more attention
• Assessing Agile maturity of the team by using standard assessment tool and guiding the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team.
• Ensuring that Agile maturity aligns with successful delivery
• Assisting with internal and external communication, and driving transparency leveraging visual dashboarding (Microsoft – AzureDevops, VSTS, TFS) to keep information up to date
• Building a safe environment to stimulate innovation
• Manage stakeholders outside the team as required

Skills & Requirements:

• Scrum Master certifications (at least one in: CSM, PSM I, PSM II, PSM III)
• Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least 2-3 years for a Scrum Team
• Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
• Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different businesses, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.)
• Experience in various backlog management tools (Azuredevops, Rally, JIRA etc.)
• Knowledge of other approaches in the Agile space: XP, Kanban, Nexus, LeSS, SAFe, DevOps etc.
• Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, Product Thinking, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
• Software development background is an advantage
