The Role: Senior Data Analyst

The Team: S&P Global is a global leader in credit ratings, benchmarks and analytics for the global capital and commodity markets. With an Internal Audit function located in the U.S, London, India, Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan, you will be part of a truly global team assisting audit function with analytical expertise, across several divisions with S&P Global and key subsidiaries.

The Impact: You will lead a hybrid portfolio of deliverables including data analytics and risk-based audit / advisory projects, SOX Compliance, and Audit Operations activities. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will have high visibility as you work closely with your direct manager, Audit Director as well as Global Auditor of S&P Global, to plan and execute the SPGI Internal Audit Plan. You will serve as a subject matter expert, leading automation and process-specific components of our Data Analytics workstreams and solutions.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Data Analyst supports the Data Analytics Strategy by proposing relevant analytics procedures/tools and automation initiatives, executing the analytics over audits, and developing visualization outputs for audits, continuous monitoring and IA initiatives. The individual’s responsibilities include –

• Work closely with the Audit Management to execute the data analytics strategy and roadmap, taking a significant and active role in developing and driving Internal Audit Data Analytics quality and knowledge sharing to enhance the value provided to Internal Audit stakeholders

• Design, build and maintain data analytics and visualizations to drive insights on operations, process inefficiencies, key risk indicators and drive the analytics requirements for audit engagements.

• Partner with IA stakeholders and cross-functional teams across the organization to determine the business requirements and deliver a robust and reliable insights.

• Provide a perspective, develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to demonstrate the capabilities of machine learning and other advance analytics techniques

• Collaborate with IT for discovery, modelling and building effective and inclusive data models.

• Understanding audit methodology and assisting the manager in preparing the plan and timelines

• Assist audit manager in execution of audits, control testing, risk assessing processes, carrying out effective control testing and evaluating the related control environment in accordance with department and IIA standards

• Independently build pilot/prototype, determine appropriate visual tool and design the views to meet project objectives

• Coordinate follow up with management on audit findings and action plans to ensure their timely implementation and completion

• Work closely with colleagues, your manager and the audit leadership team to support audit engagements and special projects

• Prioritize and organize time and workload to meet objectives and deadlines

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with advanced data analytics tools and techniques and analytical/statistical programs such as such as SAS and R.

• Experience with visualization tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, Teradata

• Proficient in data management and data mining, data catalogs and data quality technologies.

• Familiarity with audit process and control testing, continuous monitoring, and risk assessment

• Exposure to Machine learning algorithms and Patterns Recognition techniques

• Ability to create new ways to improve current processes and develop practical solutions that add value to department

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4-6 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree

• Experience with RDBMS/ SQL, Python etc.

• Knowledge of basic statistics, including hypothesis testing, data distribution models, and its application to data

• Strong team player with excellent communication skills (written and oral). Ability to communicate what is relevant and important in a clear and concise manner and handle multiple tasks

• Strong contributing member of Data Science team and help build analytical capabilities for Internal Audit Division

• Driven and motivated and constantly taking initiative to improve performance
