The Role : Senior Lead, Database Engineer

The Location : Mumbai

Grade : 11

The Team : Multiple agile teams require a DB engineer to be responsible for handling the DB Infrastructure for platforms hosted across AWS and Physical Datacenters. The teams are cross functional and include software and test engineers.

The Impact : We are looking for a technically capable Database Engineer with a hands-on approach who can bring strong technical skills, communication and experience to a global team.

What’s in it for you :

You will be part of two Agile Teams that produce custom software. Initially, you will participate as a Database Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on all aspects of DB Infrastructure and some part of Development with focus on building scalable and highly available solutions on AWS as well as physical Datacenters. You will be expected to train the agile teams in DB practices, and likewise the teams will train you to participate in building the platform.

Responsibilities :

Design, Implement & support new Database solutions, ability to understand requirements, take part in design discussions and deliver solutions end-to-end. As a member within the agile team you will understand the workflow and drive solutions as required.

What we’re looking for :

Basic Qualification :

• Around 10 to 12 years of experience in handling multi-database environment on AWS.

• Hands on experience in at least two of databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MySQL)

• Hands on experience in AWS Cloud solutions using AWS RDS.

• Hands on experience in DynamoDB.

• Understanding of DynamoDB/AWS serverless architecture. (Global tables, multi-region, multi-master)

• Automate routine DBA maintenance, patching tasks using scripting technologies.

• Develop scripts to automate Database infrastructure provisioning.

• Develop scripts to automate routine developments tasks (as it relates to the database)

• Develop solutions for monitoring & alerting databases.

• Troubleshoot database performance issues and failures.

• Design solutions to migrate data across different databases.

• Conduct cost-benefit analysis and provide effective database solutions.

• Implement database engineering best practices and controls.

• Provide guidance to developers to design complex database solutions.

• Suggest improvements to current processes, tools and implementation ideas.

• Evaluate new database AWS services and solutions.

• Enforce database security policies and audit logging mechanisms.

Preferred Qualification :

• Hands-on Experience with Oracle, DynamoDB and AWS RDS.

• AWS Certifications preferred.

• Knowledge in RDBMS, & DynamoDB database and understanding of Python.

• Experience in the financial services sector preferred but not required.

• At least Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. MS in Computer Science is preferred.

• Candidates without Computer Science or Information Technology degree should have significant work experience.
