Job Overview

This role will be a part of assisting the Security In-charge in planning and managing all station security operations as well as acting as Vistara’s ambassador and representative for all key local requirement and stakeholder in absence of the Security In-charge

Key Responsibilities

• Shall be directly and fully responsible for providing effective and efficient security coverage to all Airline flights operating during the shift, in conformity with the provisions of the Security Program, and for the efficient performance of all duties by the subordinate staff.
• As leader of the shift, he should adopt a professional approach, exude confidence, stick to code of discipline, and display a positive public attitude as he is in direct contact with the passengers.
• Shall acquaint himself fully with all the provisions of the Security Program and the latest instructions on security procedures.
• Report for duty a little ahead of the shift and go through the SECURITY LOG BOOK to make himself aware of important incidents in the previous shift before taking charge of the shift/security equipment/records.
• Shall also be well-conversant with the details of arrivals/departures and other commitments to be met during his shift, and assign staff for the purpose.
• Conduct fall-in parade, take shift roll-call, inspect the turn-out of staff, allocate duties to them, brief them about their functions and latest instructions on security procedures, and deploy them in time.
• While allocating duties, he shall see that deployment at the apron is the strongest and most effective aspect of all security operations and does not fall below a minimum standard, so as to give satisfactory security coverage to all Airline flights.
• Supervise the work of security staff in the shift, particularly those deployed at the apron, so as to ensure strict implementation of Security regulations.

• Render all possible assistance to other departments in disposing of security related passenger complaints and in ensuring on-time performance.
• Specifically monitor delays, disruptions, diversion of flights, and deploy necessary staff at such locations to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
• Maintain liaison with other agencies working at the airport.
• Ensure that all operational records are invariably kept at designated locations, in the custody of the staff deployed there, and are maintained in accordance with the prescribed guidelines
• Ensure that the security staff deployed at the X-ray machines are trained in screening duties by BCAS and are courteous to passengers.
• Ensure that no staff leaves his duty-point except for a break, or with his prior permission, until the shift comes to an end and the next shift takes over. He shall arrange a reliever during tea/lunch break so that no duty post is left unmanned at any point of time, and shall report instances of absenteeism to Manager Security.
• Promptly report any act of indiscipline/misconduct by the shift staff to the RM Security (Ops) / Manager security.
• Keep the Manager Security posted with accurate and complete information of all operational incidents/developments and other matters with regard to his shift by the quickest means of communication.
• Take prompt action on all incidents, carry out on-the-spot enquiries into cases of theft/pilferage, intervene in cases of violations of security regulations, and submit reports to the Manager Security or his supervisory officers without delay.
• In cases of violations of law reported to him, he shall take further action in consultation with Reporting Manager.
• Make detailed entries in the SECURITY LOG BOOK of all incidents/happenings that take place during the shift and of action taken by him for the information of, and follow-up action by, the incoming staff.
• Passenger Complaint Regarding Pilferage from registered baggage. To co-operate with airport services in bringing down such complaints to the desired level.
• In the absence of Shift-in-charge, the senior most staff available in the shift shall act as Shift-in-charge and discharge all the duties and functions of Shift-in-charge.

Skills & Attributes

• Must be keen to further develop and enhance aviation security oversight and aviation security systems
• Should have organizational and time management abilities and should be able to present complex information to a variety of audiences
• Critical thinking, sound decision making and advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments is desirable
• Should have good interpersonal and communication skills
• Professional appearance and demeanor with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (esp. PowerPoint); e-learning software is an asset

Work Experience

• Experience in the security department must be of 9 years and above.

Qualification

• Should be a Certified Screener and having a valid AVSEC BASIC Certification
• Graduate/ Postgraduate from a recognized university.

Eligibility

• Must be at a level of Asst. Manager (1C) or one level lower than the position.
• Minimum tenure in the current role and level – 18 months as of release date of IJP and must have attained minimum performance rating of GP3 in the last appraisal.
• Must be “confirmed’’ in service
