Tata Steel Foundation Looking For Assistant Manager – Community Development at Jharkhand, Full Time

WHO ARE WE: Tata Steel Foundation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Steel Limited and was instituted on August 16, 2016. With over 1000 members spread over ten units and six states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Punjab, the Foundation is a CSR implementing organization focused upon co-creating solutions, with tribal and excluded communities, to address their development challenges. The organization is committed to playing a larger role in India’s sustainable development by embedding wider economic, social, and environmental objectives through its programmes and underscored by a vision to create an enlightened and equitable society.

Location of Posting: West Bokaro, Jharkhand

Employment Type: Fixed-term contract (Renewal on a yearly basis)

Purpose of the Role: Enabling positive relationships between organization and the local community in West Bokaro. This role will focus on three key areas: Tribal Identity, Volunteerism, and Environment. The primary goal is to create sustainable community development initiatives that benefit both the company and the community.

Key Deliverables:

• Develop and maintain an understanding of the local culture, traditions, and values of the community.
• Act as a liaison between the company and local ethnic groups to promote cultural appreciation and understanding.
• Identify opportunities for cultural exchange programs and events.
• Create and manage volunteer programs for employees to engage with the community, addressing their needs and concerns.
• Collaborate with environmental experts to implement sustainable practices in the community.
• Organize plantation drives, waste management, and conservation projects to improve the local environment.
• Educate community members on environmental awareness and best practices.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local community leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders.
• Represent the company at community meetings, forums, and public events.
• Address community concerns, feedback, and grievances in a timely and effective manner.
• Prepare regular reports on community development initiatives, including progress, impact, and challenges.

Minimum Qualification: Post Graduation (Social Work/ Rural Development or equivalent)

Minimum No. of years of experience: 3 years in Rural/ Community Development in Jharkhand

Behavioral Skills Required:

• Strong knowledge of the local culture and community dynamics in West Bokaro.
• Ability to engage across stakeholder groups, peers, and communities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach
• Self-motivated, result-oriented, and sensitive to diversity.

Technical Skills Required:

• Project Planning, Management
• Digital ability is a must; adept in computer literacy, dexterous with MS-Office
• Financial Management in relation to CSR guidelines and constitutional framework
• Good drafting skills in relation to community development-related project proposals
• Good communication (English, Hindi, and Local language), interpersonal, and negotiation skills are also essential.
