To work with internal T&F stakeholders to specify, design and implement information systems that deliver great value to the organisation and our customers. Our technology covers areas such as content management, product management, marketing, customer service, commerce and sales for the B2C & B2B customers of Taylor & Francis. Job Description:
Solutions Architecture is responsible for delivering solution designs for projects, which typically involve coordinating multiple delivery teams. The solution architect must collaborate to deliver solutions that are fit for purpose with the scope of the project as well as hold architectural integrity within the wider enterprise architecture. The resultant solutions will have a measurable impact on the effectiveness and profitability of Taylor & Francis.
What you’ll be doing:
Provide solution architecture development, consultancy and assurance to projects, making sure applications are well designed and conform to Taylor & Francis standards and align to the enterprise architecture and technology vision.
This includes:
Understand the stakeholder’s business and functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications and requirements
Deliver project deliverables on- time and in accordance with stakeholder expectations and statement of work
Architect solutions/applications with all features and functions, and ensure all layers (including user consumption layer) are designed and developed per stakeholder requirements
Providing architecture leadership to delivery teams and technical leads within projects to ensure there is alignment with the overall enterprise architecture.
Working closely with project management to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised.
Develop domain specific knowledge required for good decision making within the scope of projects undertaken; eliciting specific details and confirm their relative importance to the overall solution; maintaining a good understanding of the enterprise architecture and technology vision; maintaining currency with the latest technology and engineering practises employed by delivery teams
Required Skill Sets:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in solution development disciplines, including technical architecture, application development, middleware, database management, etc.
At least 2 years of prior experience as a Software Architect of enterprise-grade software.
Experience in designing solutions based on a microservices architecture.
Experience with at least one leading cloud technology (AWS, GCP & Azure).
Expertise in OO design and modelling tools.
Expertise in at least one of Java, Node or Angular.
Knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL based databases.
Knowledge of middleware technologies and patterns.
Good communication Skills.
Preferred Skill Sets:
Knowledge and experience working within Academic Publishing or elsewhere in the Academic industry is preferred
Working experience with managing stakeholder relationships across multiple teams and disciplines, both business and technology typically to director level.
Experienced in working collaboratively on solutions with customers, vendors and other external stakeholders is an advantage.
Working experience in global companies, working across multiple geographies and time zones, working virtually with both in and out-sourced teams, vendors and suppliers.
Advocate of agile practises to increase delivery agility. Is able to identify architecturally significant aspects of the initiative and provide advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical debt. Is able to shape an emergent architecture through the delivery lifecycle
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence engineers, peers, product owners and other stakeholders to consensus decisions. Able to build trust and establish productive working relationships, is respected and valued across teams
Understands technology alternatives, their trade-offs and when to apply them. Embraces modern architectural paradigms to maximise architectural agility
Remains unbiased toward any specific technology or vendor choice, and is more interested in results than personal preferences, whether buy, build or borrow
Motivated and driven by achieving the best solutions for individual initiatives/projects that align with the enterprise architecture
Skilled in remote working practises. Able to convey complex topics simply and succinctly using video conference and remote sharing technology
