About our organization

The/Nudge is an action institute working towards a poverty-free India, within our lifetime. We partner with governments, markets, and civil society to build resilient livelihoods for all. We are a collective of some of India’s best leaders and entrepreneurs from across the industry, academia, government, and development sectors and our work is organized across three impact streams:

• Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (CSDE): exists to enable underprivileged youth to lead flourishing lives
• Centre for Rural Development (CRD): exists to enable families to come out of extreme poverty
• Centre for Social Innovation (CSI): exists to nudge top talent to solve India’s biggest challenges

The Institute aims to catalyze social transformations at the scale of what ‘Aadhaar’ and the ‘White Revolution’ have enabled, with a focus on building dignified and resilient livelihoods for urban and rural poor. In our endeavor to build resilient livelihoods and promoting inclusive growth, our programs are focused on improving employability, enhancing access/connect to jobs, facilitating job creation by enabling opening up of new sectors for mass employment, and building resilience of vulnerable communities by facilitating the diversification of income and asset-building opportunities as well as access to welfare programmes. We enable prototyping and designing of effective solutions through experiments, propagate these solutions through technology platforms and evangelization and support the scale-up of solutions by collaborating with government, private sector and civil society.

About the role

This role is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a new intrapreneurial venture focused on solving one of the biggest problems of India using technology. Leverage your capabilities and time to do meaningful work and create impact at scale while working with leaders and entrepreneurs working towards a poverty-free India.

In this role, you will:

• Be part of the 2-member team that will go on a 0 to 1 journey together
• Own the research required to come up with problem statements and new tech first product for The/Nudge Institute
• Engage with external stakeholders (beneficiaries, thought leaders, entrepreneurs, technologists) to understand the landscape of the problem / target segment / tech solutions
• Build initial hypotheses, design and execute experiments/pilots and measure success to test and refine hypotheses
• Build business case to secure approval from internal stakeholders and support fundraising efforts
• Design the tech product with the beneficiary at the center with a focus on scalability and viability; work with the tech team (internal or vendors) to build it
• Be the early team member who goes beyond job descriptions

Apply if you have:

• 8-10 years of work experience in high performing roles in product strategy, consulting, investment banking, intrapreneurial roles focused on tech (tech startup experience preferred)
• passion and hunger for solving big social problems at scale using technology
• comfort learning new technologies and applying to the context of the problem and ability to go deep from a technical perspective as needed
• strong product sense for why some products work and others don’t (experience of building or working on 0-1 products preferred)
• strong analytical skills, comfort with first principles thinking, design and systems thinking approaches, and love for problem solving (ability to drive all stages of problem solving process including framing problem statement, research, brainstorming, synthesis, analysis and recommendations)
• strong verbal and written communication skills
• ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous startup environment (bias for action, getting things done, learning new things fast, figuring things out on your own)
• ability to collaborate well cross-functionally with people across experience levels and different backgrounds
• understanding of and commitment to do what it takes to build something ground up
