Job Summary
The Research Associate will develop/design, pursue funding for, implement, evaluate and publish research studies related to older adult programs of health research with a particular focus on physical and social health, health equity and/or implementation science (Principal Investigators, Drs. Heather McKay and Joanie Sims Gould). This position requires a strong research background, excellent writing skills and familiarity with requirements and guidelines related to relevant grant funding agencies (e.g., CIHR, MSFHR, Vancouver Foundation). The Researcher will have the ability to communicate effectively with co-investigators, government and community partners (and other knowledge users).
Note: This is a 80% FTE, 1 year contract position.
ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Drs. Heather McKay and Joanie Sims Gould. They will also interact closely with other partners (Active Aging Research Team (AART) members, all research collaborators (e.g., faculty at UBC and other universities, government and community partners) and granting agencies.

CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR
This position requires research experience, good will, excellent project coordination and communication skills, tact, judgment and discretion in working with various senior professionals and collaborating with internal and external agencies that support health promoting programs and health research. Must display knowledge, confidentiality, awareness, and sensitivity to personal data and other issues. Errors in decision making may compromise the reputation of UBC, Faculty of Medicine, the PDF supervisor; lead and co-investigators on projects, the affiliated Center, the larger research team and community collaborators.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This person will be given wide latitude and independence under the direction of Drs. Heather McKay and Joanie Sims-Gould.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
Provides direction, content knowledge and expertise to trainees (provides mentorship) and the larger research team. Provides functional direction to researchers in their areas of expertise. May manage research staff.
