About the role
Asst Manager, Logistics position exists to lead the distribution function, with a clear focus on the customer service levels. Responsible for coordinating and handling all aspects of all Distribution and Logistics (Inbound, Outbound, and Ex-Bond clearance) of Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group (LSLPG)-Thermo Fisher Scientific India and South Asia as per the processes and procedures as globally aligned operationally to ensure a fast, accurate, efficient, cost-effective, and global consistent service.
Ensure all Logistics and Distribution plans have an integrated approach to the organization’s strategic objectives
Participate in safety calls and drive safety standards for warehouse and participate in safety Gemba walks periodically and work with EHS and facilities team to resolve the nonconformance that may be found.
Closely work with the CS team to process Critical, COVID, and KAM orders.
Handing Key account Orders, the process of planning and handling a mutually beneficial partnership between an organization and its most important customers. Key accounts are significant to an organization’s sustainable long-term growth.
Ensure compliance with GST norms from Customs Bonded Warehouse and Non-Bonded Transactions viz., verifying Ex-bond Bill of Entries and supporting warehouse operations. Updating BOE and Duty details in Custom table to align with GST norms
Be responsible for the entire warehouse (Bonded and Non-Bonded) operations and Drive improvements in the warehouse, create/amend SOPs, Visual metrics, Gemba, and collaborate with the team to update the warehouse & logistics data WAR ROOM.
Handling Direct vehicle movement for Key account customers and handling dry and cold FTL truck movement to customers by reviewing the load. Ensuring coordination between Customer support and 3pl for on-time shipping of outbound shipments.
Work closely with the 3rd Party Logistics service Provider to resolve day-to-day issues that may occur. Facilitate improvements in 3PL performance and handle their system access and employee contract extension in the system.
Participate in Safety calls and implement all the required safety measures at the warehouse.
Drive Cost Savings Projects and ensure spending is within the budget.
Drive Daily cycle count and Obtain approval for the scrapping of goods & ensure physical scrapping is completed according to company policies. Drive full count
Handle complete ERP (Oracle JD Edwards -e1 and SAP PR1) transactions from End to End for outbound, Inbound, and Order returns. Participate in UAT testing and share the feedback with the IT team on the impact or readiness of changes.
Ensure bonded materials do not exceed the permitted connected time limits and transfer material from bonded to non-bonded status as required. Ensure customs books are updated accordingly and review the
Ensure all the domestic transporter bills are reviewed through the auditing portal and get the payment done detailed.
Assist Logistics manager on the additional tasks and controls required for warehouse operations.
Projects
Collaborate with the 3pl team which would be finalized for the IDC consolidation and ensure a smooth transition of inventory, mapping location, resources, system access, and SOP training for the service provider.
Work with IT team for implementation of WMS, multiple phases of Web Express, E1 up-gradation, and support the function in UAT tastings.
Undergo Process manager training and oversee driving improvements in the warehouse, create/amend SOPs, Visual metrics, Gemba, and collaborate with the team to update the warehouse & logistics data WAR ROOM with interactive live screens.
Work with the QA team closely to obtain ISO 9001 Certification and the logistics team for obtaining AEO T2 certification.
Work towards attainting Gold Certification for forthcoming audit.
Experience & Skills required
Bachelor’s degrees in any stream with 5 to 8 years of work experience in Warehousing (Must)
Strong analytical, reasoning, and negotiating skills
Familiarity with safety and procedural best practices in SCM
Drive continuous improvement through Gemba, JDI’s, and Kaizens
Experience with ERP programs and proficiency with MS Excel
Ability to drive the 3rd party logistics service provider, productivity savings, and work towards warehouse consolidations.
