Reuters is looking for a reporter with a track record of breaking economic policy news in India. The economy is facing new headwinds following the war in Ukraine just as it was coming out of a deep slowdown caused by the pandemic. The ideal candidate would be someone who can track policy changes from inside the federal government in Delhi, from the small details to the big moves as the government seeks to put Asia’s third largest economy on a firmer footing. The role offers a chance to be involved in the biggest stories of the day, spanning tax changes to investment promotion, foreign trade negotiations to issues of data privacy.

About the role

• Break the biggest policy stories of the day from government
• Interview key stakeholders in government of India
• Deliver equity and debt market moving stories

⁃ Develop new sources across key ministries

• Work with various teams

Key requirements

⁃ At least 5 years of covering economic policy from New Delhi

⁃ Deep inroads in major ministries like finance, trade, investment promotion, infrastructure

• Proven track record of breaking policy news
• Team player, persistence
• Ability to get big interviews first during key events
