Duties
Basic Function of the Position: The position is located in the Consular Office in the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. The incumbent will assist the Immigrant Visa (IV), Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV), and Consular Information (CIU) units, consisting of thirty-five FSNs responsible for processing more than 6,000 IV and 300,000 NIV applications annually. S/he on a rotational basis works in the IV, NIV, or CIU unit in the Consular section. S/he may also part-time act as a Consular cashier in the course of his or her assignment to NIV, IV, or CIU unit. S/he will screen incoming documentation and information from a variety of sources i.e. (public counters, The National Visa Centre (NVC), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), mail, phone calls). S/he will check documents submitted by pending IV and NIV applicants; organizes and tracks visa requests accordingly to a complicated set of laws and procedures so that a Consular Officer (or other Visa Adjudicating Official) can make decisions and ensure that the legal requirements of the application have been met. S/he works in a team to manage the day-to-day functions of the unit. The jobholder is required to assist and provide support for all officers and NIV team leads as needed. S/he performs highly complex work for the CIU, including providing NIV and IV information to the public and responding to queries from the public and the Embassy’s front office. S/he will draft correspondence to Members of Congress and host country officials; maintains paper and computer files of U.S. congressional inquiries. S/he will interact with the public regularly via email and phone. The incumbent will also perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:
This position requires three years of work experience in area related to customer service or work applying regulatory material.

Education Requirements:
This position requires the successful completion of two years of college studies.

Level 4 (Fluent) in English (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) is required. This may be tested

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in New Delhi, India may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time the conditional offer letter is issued by the HR Office.
