Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Database Engineer to lead our team of database Engineers. As a Lead Database Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our database systems, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL. You will also play a key role in driving database-related initiatives, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating with other teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of database engineers in designing, implementing, and maintaining PostgreSQL databases.

• Develop and enforce best practices for database design, performance optimization, and security.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design database solutions that meet business needs.

• Drive the adoption of automation tools and processes to streamline database operations.

• Perform database capacity planning and scalability assessments.

• Lead efforts to improve database reliability, availability, and performance.

• Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on database design, development, and troubleshooting.

• Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for critical database issues outside of regular business hours.

• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Cloud SQL, with the ability to leverage these technologies to enhance our database infrastructure, is a plus.

Qualifications

• 9 to12 years of experience in database administration, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.

• Expert-level knowledge of database design principles, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.

• Proficiency in Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting.

• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.

• Strong understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
