 About USEA: The Union South-East Asia (USEA) Trust is a registered charitable trust established in February 2019 and has its office at C-6, Qutub Institutional Area, New Delhi 110016, India. It is a not for profit scientific organization that works for public and other charitable purposes. The Organization is to stimulate and conduct scientific research, disseminate scientific knowledge, create awareness and build capacity to address public health challenges through technical assistance, seminars, conferences, training courses, events, research and publications. The organization design and implement program and activities to prevent and control public health problems with a particular emphasis on low and middle income countries, promoting innovations and partnerships in all phases of project implementation.

About JSW Foundation Project: India contributes to 26% of Global TB Burden. It is estimated that 26 lakh individuals develop TB annually in India with an estimated 1.35 lakh people affected by drug-resistant TB. Recent Global TB report (2022) highlighted that the incidence of TB has increased in India during the post COVID era. The Government of India has committed to achieve sustainable development goals related to ending TB by 2025 and has called for all stakeholders to come together to achieve this bold vision, as articulated in the new National Strategic Plan for 2017-2025.

Under TB Mukt Panchayat Initiative, USEA will support to strengthen activities that include demonstration of a concept for TB Free Villages that fosters community ownership, early case finding through active and systematic screening, treatment initiation, follow up and other public health actions including TB Preventive Therapy that gears towards transforming 1000 villages as ‘TB free’ across states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Odisha so as to accelerate the progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals targets related to Ending TB.

Project Officer- Vijayanagar District of Karnataka will be overall responsible for implementation of TB Free Villages (TB Mukt Panchayat) Initiative of USEA in Vijayanagar District of Karnataka State with following specific responsibilities,

Specific Responsibilities: –

• Build an enabling relationship with NTEP staff, JSW CSR Team and other stakeholders in the respective district.

• Identification and Line listing of the villages for project intervention in coordination with NTEP

• Baseline data collection from intervention villages/Panchayats, analysing of data in coordination with District TB Office and JSW CSR Team

• Planning and execution of TB Mukt Panchayat initiative in project geographies

• Ensure advocacy and sensitisation of Panchayat and Village level. Coordinate with the SHG group and their sensitization on TB, focused towards provision of TB services and linkages with TB service providers.

• Plan, design, and facilitate conducting of training sessions, workshops, sensitization to all stake holders, Task Force, health care providers on TB.

• Planning and implementation of Active Case Finding (ACF) campaigns

• Work on ACSM for involvement and awareness of all stake holders to make villages TB free.

• The timely review, corrective measures, partnerships and evidence-based pathways need to be prepared.

• Capacity building of volunteers, Strengthening awareness at the village level,

• Manage program operations data, Nikshay for analysing and accomplishing the Project more effectively. Problem identification and solution

• Ensure that the information in Nikshay is updated regularly in accordance with the current guidelines. Maintain the documentation regarding the counselling and Public Health services provided and reporting them in the prescribed formats in register.

• Facilitate linkages for social, nutritional, NPY, vocational rehabilitative and palliative care support to TB Patients diagnosed under project.

• Facilitate ACSM activities in coordination with the IEC Officer and PPM Partners.

• Preparing necessary reports and participating in periodic reviews/ discussions to monitor execution of project activities in the district including, monitoring the program indicators and preparing and submitting periodical reports as per the project requirements and timelines.

• Any other project related work assigned by National or State Lead

Location: Vijayanagar, Karnataka

Reporting

The Position will report to the State Lead and closely work with the National Program implementation team.

Qualification & Experience:

• Masters in Public Health/MBA/Masters in Social Work

• 7+ years work experience in the Public Health Project

• 3+ years work experience in Tuberculosis projects

Competencies and skills:

• Strong Execution ability

• Ability to work independently and with cross cultural teams

• Ability to work Multi tasks, follow up as needed with different stakeholders

• Good communication skills and proficiency in English, Hindi and Kannada language.

• Professional knowledge of Computers-MS Office

• Good writing skill

Compensation Offered:

The gross remuneration budgeted for the position shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience, and salary history of the selected candidate.
