Overall Purpose of The Job Ownership & accountability for Group-wide program and campaigns that assure V.Group compliance with, and delivery against, all current and projected legislative, industry, and client standards and best practices, supporting with data-led analysis of performance trends and root causes to ensure continual improvement of our service delivery and statutory obligations, and effective adoption of new, value-add standards as may be required.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks Promoting A Strong, Pro-Active Safety Culture

Ensure the Company’s Safety Culture is promoted and maintained to the highest possible standards, in all locations, through;

• Active engagement with all employees on HSSEQ-related issues
• Participate in & provide input to HSSEQ-related meetings and inspections
• Actively promote the application of all Company Control of Work processes and safe working practices
• Implementing and promoting V.Group’s ‘Key Behaviours of Great Safety Leaders’ (accompanying this JD)

Analysis & Reporting of Performance Data

• Provide insight to analysis of relevant HSSEQ performance data
• Provide support for programs to address or support performances
• Identification of performance trends and proposals of corrective plans & programs

Incidents & Emergencies

• Support BU Cluster emergency response activities in actual and simulated emergency scenarios
• Provide HSSEQ-focused support during investigation of Accidents, Incidents & HiPo Near Misses, where required
• Support timely publication of Bulletins and Alerts

Continual Improvement

• Identify opportunities for development of HSSEQ systems and programs
• Deliver initiatives for continual improvement of engagement in HSSEQ activities
• Identify and support technological innovation of HSSEQ programs and systems

Compliance & Certification

Support BU Cluster HSSEQ Manager to ensure;

• Customer relations and satisfaction are continually maintained to ensure flawless service delivery
• timely completion of all required audits and inspections, and the retention of associated certification/licenses
• relevant standards, procedures and best practices are correctly implemented or adopted
• minimal potential legislative, operational, and administrative non-conformity
• the V.MS meets the requirements of all parties and any proposed amendments to internal documents are effectively passed to relevant Group function heads
• where BU Cluster-specific V.MS content is required to be compiled or amended, assist the relevant function head to submit and close such amendments
• all findings & actions are managed & effectively closed out within agreed timeframes

HSSEQ Support

• Ensuring sufficient, timely, and efficient administrative support to the BU Cluster HSSEQ team in delivery functional duties and expectations
• Understudy BU Cluster HSSEQ Manager to provide resilience int eh function, and to develop personal skills and experience for future growth
• Actively partake in shore- and vessel-based safety meetings to encourage constructive discussion and drive management engagement

Development & Evolution

• Identify opportunities for growth & development of the HSSEQ function, to ensure capabilities and means of delivery are continually improved
• Where required, assist in specific projects such as;

o management & maintenance of ShipSure process, and ShipSure BI analytics and insight

o providing function-specific input to internal development projects

o development and implementation of safety initiatives

Required Experience ESSENTIAL:

• Recognised qualification in relevant field
• Strong, clear communication and administrative skills, especially in regard to maintenance of HSE standards
• Experience of interfacing with clients and meeting their demands in relation to implementation and management of HSSEQ-specific aspects
• Significant experience in engaging and collaborating with multinational / multicultural teams

DESIRABLE:

• Recognised Incident Investigator qualification
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 / 18001 Standards
• Working knowledge of maritime HSE standards & legislation beneficial
• Working knowledge of ISM and ISPS codes, other standards (MLC, MARPOL, SOLAS, ISO, OHSAS, etc.) & statutory regulations relating to vessel operations
• Strong data analytical skills
