About the Job

Responsible for control and oversight of all business operations for Integrated Steel Plant, people and ventures. Being the highest ranking manager in the organization, will be responsible for the overall success of the business. Handling a multi plant operations within the organization with all it’s nuances. Having full control of talent and team development within the organization to steer it towards profitable operations. Liaising with key Internal and external stakeholders necessary for smooth functioning of the setup. The ideal candidate will be a strategist and a leader who is able to steer the company to the most profitable direction while also implementing its vision, mission and long term goals. Very strong crisis management skills will also be essential since the position is the one who is expected to “save” the company in times of need. The goal is to ensure the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives and does not diverge from its strategic guidelines.

Requirement and Skills: –

• Strategy & Business Intelligence

1. Develop and execute a strategic plan to advance the company’s mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth as an organization.
2. Analysis of markets/product segments to identify/validate most profitable niches and capabilities vis a vis competitors to maximize VGL profits and growth.
3. Provide strategic advice to the JMD so that they will have accurate view of the market and the company’s future.
4. Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities.

• Performance Monitoring & review (Commercial)

1. Monitor purchase of materials and raw material and take part during negotiations to protect company interest as and when required.
2. To ensure that minimum stock of Raw Material like Coal, Iron Ore, dolomite, Pig Iron, Manganese Ore etc. as required are kept in the Plant. Also ensure that all the raw materials are properly stacked and booked in the system
3. Monitor disposal of Scrap and other items from the Stores and ensure that maximum benefits are derived from disposal.
4. Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively for commercial function
5. Ensure all administrative matters related to the commercial vertical are closed in accordance with relevant management guidelines and policies.
6. Review daily reports from Commercial vertical for Raw Material, Purchase & Stores IT & Digitization, Corporate Affairs, and HR & Admin and resolve issues highlighted in accordance with concurrent management guidelines and policies
7. Conduct timely performance review within commercial vertical with strategic management team (Functional Heads)
8. Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and are complied with.

• Resource Management

1. Review and report recruitment status of positions based upon recruitment priority set by JMD to fill vacant special requirement positions in VGL
2. Expedite the recruitment process of high priority vacant positions in co-ordination with Head HR, and keep the JMD updated on progress
3. Oversee and review status of all legal and land issues, and liasioning with external and government agencies for properties managed by VGL and ensure positive relations with them
4. Oversee and manage implementation of IT & Digitization strategy for VGL.

• General Management

1. Ensure specific assignments given by JMD are completed within agreed timelines.
2. Scrutinize all the documents sent for JMD approval and ensure critical information is highlighted.

Role Requirements: –

• Desired Qualification

B.E./ B.Tech (Mechanical / Metallurgical / Electrical) from Premier Institute, MBA preferred.

• Desired Experience

1. 20+ years of experience in sales, marketing, and commercial operations, preferably in stainless Steel industry.
2. 10+ years of experience in leadership role
3. 5+ years of experience in similar capacity

• Functional Skills

1. Development of strategic and business plans
2. Deep understanding of sales and marketing principles, along with procurement, logistics, and supply chain management.
3. Deep knowledge of the steel industry and the ability to analyze market trends and competitive activity.
4. Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
5. Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance, familiarity with corporate law and management best practices.
