End User Computing (EUC) is one of the fastest growing business units within VMware. Workspace ONE delivers and manages any app on any device by integrating access control, application management and multi-platform endpoint management.

Workspace ONE is built on the unified endpoint management (Workspace ONE UEM) technology. The platform is complex, spanning across many dimensions including multiple device platforms, third party integrations and various enterprise infrastructure components such as Directory services, Certificate Authorities, etc. We operate in highly regulated industries that require us to provide deployment flexibility – our product can be installed in shared/isolated SaaS instances, on-premise or partner hosted. We enable critical line of business use cases for our customers – they require us to provide a high quality, scalable and reliable service to keep their operations running.

The Workspace ONE UEM platform is in the middle of a transformation. The system is being re-architected to adapt to the next phase of growth and new opportunities, while continuing to support our existing $1B+ business. There are several new capabilities being built into the platform that will allow us to leverage our existing strong endpoint management footprint to provide higher value services. The complexity of the use cases we address, the sensitivity of the data we manage and the breadth of features we provide require us to innovate in all areas of how we build, test and deploy the product.

We are looking for a business leader who can help us along this journey. Experience leading strong engineering teams, partnering with product management to define roadmap and a strong track of execution are required. Excellent technical skills and ability coupled with the empathy and intuition required to be a great people leader is a must.

Primary responsibilities of this role include:

• Lead a strong engineering team responsible for several key platform services

• Drive architecture and design discussions, enable execution with efficient decision making

• Build a platform that is scalable, extensible and supportable

• Be an effective spokesperson and champion for the engineering teams

• Mentor and develop engineers to build a strong engineering bench. Promote a culture of innovation, pride, performance, and disciplined execution.

• Help recruit and maintain excellent and diverse engineering talent.

• Work effectively and lead a geographically distributed team.

Required Qualifications

• Seasoned engineer leader with minimum of 10 years leading teams with a strong track record of developing and delivering complex, distributed, enterprise class software to create successful business outcomes

• Proven track record of delivering complex, secure and scalable enterprise software, delivering the very best customer outcomes.

• Successfully managed managers demonstrating the ability to scale the team horizontally and vertically

• Architecture design and development experience on SaaS software

• Ability to lead and mentor engineers globally, be a champion for creative technical trends. Acknowledged for driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through.

• An extraordinarily intelligent, rigorous thinker who can operate successfully among very bright and charismatic people.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
