The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity? The Learning Programs team, under the Worldwide Readiness, Assessment, Certification, and Enablement (WWRACE) organization, is seeking a candidate with a strong instructional design background and skills to design, develop, and update training materials using various tools and strategies for the role of Instructional Designer, Learning Programs Team. Our team is responsible for providing enablement training for our sales force and partners, so knowledge of sales and sales methodologies is highly desirable. What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for? You will be responsible for working with key stakeholders and subject-matter experts (SMEs) to consult on and complete projects, implement feedback, and apply instructional design standards and criteria. You will interact with global teams and SMEs, and work with cross-functional members who are located in different geographies such as the Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia Pacific. The position requires a self-starter with strong communication and presentation skills, understanding of instructional design methodologies and processes, and the ability to work with a range of different roles in the sales organization. VMware has a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment, which will require you to handle shifting priorities, build strong credible relationships, and distil a variety of feedback into consumable data and reference points to drive content, training, program, and communications improvement. Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? You will:

• Use instructional design expertise to analyze, design, and develop effective and engaging instructional materials that meet audience needs
• Work with stakeholders and SMEs to understand, define, and capture their training requirements and propose appropriate learning strategies that successfully address the needs of the target audience and involve suitable training delivery modalities
• Develop training and enablement content for field representatives, partners, and/or customers (including but not limited to instructor-led presentations, sales assets, e-Learning courses) using sound writing, communication, and instructional design principles and strategies
• Design simulations, job aids, assessment questions, etc. to support courseware
• Conduct design and content reviews effectively and in a timely manner
• Work with vendor resources (as/when needed) to produce and deliver all projects on-time, within scope, and within budget
• Attain intermediate knowledge of networking, storage, client/server applications, end-user computing tools, cloud offerings, etc.
• Work cross-functionally and develop a trusting partnership with stakeholders, SMEs, and other cross-functional teams in the enablement organization
• Actively collaborate with members of the content team and contribute to internal discussions and internal projects involving process documentation, process improvement, team engagement, metrics analysis and collection, innovative thinking, etc.
• Perform peer review of training content and provide constructive feedback
• Regularly report status of projects

• Experience developing sales training content in a variety of learning formats; experience with instructor-led training and e-learning format is a must
• Advanced instructional design knowledge and exposure to latest industry trends in the fields of instructional design, learning strategies & technologies, and training tools
• Familiarity with the high-tech sales process and terminology common for consultative selling
• Clear, professional, and concise communications (written/verbal), presentation and facilitation skills, attention to detail
• Ability to take initiative and complete assigned deliverables within the defined time with limited supervision
• Ability to use a consultative approach and persuasive communication with stakeholders
• Ability to take initiative, set priorities independently, and complete assigned deliverables within the defined time with limited supervision
• Strong organizational skills and ability to operate successfully in a fast-changing, dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous environment

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• 8+ years of experience with instructional design/development of sales-focused courses in a high-tech context
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is mandatory; graduate-level instructional degree is preferred.
• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) and major eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, and Captivate) mandatory
• Intermediate-level proficiency in video and animation creation/editing tools (Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, VideoScribe, Vyond) and graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects) highly desirable
• Deep knowledge of virtual training/meeting applications (Zoom, MS Teams) and supporting tools/apps (such as Poll Everywhere, Menti, Kahoot) required
• Knowledge of Adobe Connect, Adobe Creative Cloud, Panopto, Refract.tv, VideoScribe, Learning Management Systems, such as SABA preferred
