The World is getting ready to adopt 5G. More and more Telco Vendors are rolling out their 5G offerings across the globe. This has been one of the most innovative IT Technical domains for the last few years. Our product TCA ( https://telco.vmware.com/products/telco-cloud-automation.html ) is one of the key enablers for VMware to sell VMware’s 5G Solutions.
Telcos want at most quality in the products they use. With 5G, they are expecting to automate the rollout of the 5G software across thousands of cell/Edge sites and hundreds of Datacenters. With an increasing list of 5G customers, we need to deliver our software in good quality at a quicker pace. Automation is a key aspect of delivering quality software quicker to our customers. Working as an Automation Engineer, you will be engaged in understanding key challenges we are solving for Telcos and simulate and automate the same in our labs and ensure our product fully addresses the customer needs. You will be fully engaged in understanding the customer’s Functional and Non-Functional requirements and automating the same.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Within your first 6 months:
Understanding existing product features.
Working on different components of the product.
Understanding Tools and Techniques
Understanding the existing automation framework
Contribution towards feature automation
Contribution toward different topology automation
Identifying Test Gaps for Assignment Module automation.
Understand different customer deployment scenarios and current automation solutions.
Understand current automation models for Scale, Longevity, and Reliability aspects of the product.
Within your first 12 months:
Own Certain modules of automation framework.
Own some deployment customer topologies end-to-end for automation
Becoming Subject Matter Expect for certain modules in the product
Controlling /reducing Customer found defects
Managing Assigned engineer works
Provide feedback in design and test-plan reviews
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
As part of the Automation Team
You will be working on simulating and automating different customer topology requirements
Constantly assess and improve the automation based on customer defects and feedback
Extend the automation to cater to the new needs of customers. For example, extend automation support for deploying the Network Functions on an EKS cluster.
Working on test gap analysis for assigned modules based on Customer Found defects.
Following with Dev/PM to enhance coverage and closing the test gaps.
Participation in test plan reviews, test case reviews
Our requirements from you as a part of the Automation Team are
Must Have.
Technical Skills: – Python is preferred but proficiency in other languages will be considered
2 to 5 years of experience in Product Feature Automation
Good Knowledge of Automation Frameworks, Tools, and Design principles.
Install, maintain, and monitor systems running on physical hardware and virtualized environments.
Deploy, automate, troubleshoot, and enhance the K8s-based system
Exposure to 5G Products/standards is added advantage.
Exposure to VMware products is added advantage.

Good to Have
Understanding of Atlassian Suites like Jira. Confluence
Worked on Spirent and Ixia tools
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
This position reports to the Manager of the Engineering Team, The team consists of highly competent junior and senior engineers across India. This role is dedicated to India. We focus on Automation.
You will be initially part of the established team that has a wide range of core responsibilities, but the expectation is that you will grow to a specialist or subject matter expert, lead projects by becoming module owner/lead later. This is a great opportunity for someone who is eager to start new things and put their mark on a team and company.
Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
