Position Description: Vocera is looking for a dedicated, hands-on Sr. Software Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and automation testing of the Vocera “Holodeck” hospital simulation platform that provides real world clinical communication and collaboration voice and messaging workflows to exercise and analyze new product releases. You will also be designing and implementing other advanced tools to be used by product development teams to improve products. This position reports to the Director, Software Development. Responsibilities * You will help lead the design, implementation, and automation testing of Vocera’s “Holodeck” hospital simulation platform and other advanced software tools to exercise, analyze, and improve Vocera product releases * You will work with multi-functional teams to enhance the “Holodeck” platform, as well as product releases and other advanced software tools * Follow software engineering clean architecture practices and SAFe Scaled Agile processes * You will deliver innovative solutions to fulfill complex project requirements within project timelines * Collaborate with other development teams to ensure features and enablers are effective * Assist with user support and escalations for the “Holodeck” platform * Document processes, designs, and product capabilities as needed Competencies * Solid knowledge and experience with OOP methodologies, design patterns, and clean architecture (Kotlin Coroutines and Flows, Java, Dagger2, and RxJava a plus) * Solid understanding and experience working with Linux, BASH, Postgres, MSSQL, Git, Wireshark, and Jira, along with Agile software development processes * Proven ability to design, develop, build, test, and support scalable and highly available enterprise solutions * Results driven, hands on approach to the full software development life cycle from architecture to testing * Demonstrated passion to build great software systems in the right way * Dedicated in the face of ambiguous requirements; unafraid to explore new ideas and technologies * Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through adapting technology and a deep understanding of product architecture * Independent self-starter; able to complete projects on time with minimal guidance * Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills * Excel working within a dynamic and diverse team Requirements * BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent * 8+ years of development experience including 4+ years in data modeling, messaging protocols or networking * Advanced experience with networking and protocols including the ability to analyze network traffic and reverse engineer protocols * Proven track record of delivering high quality technical results within committed time parameters * High proficiency with Kotlin/Java, databases, and Linux * Familiarity with SCM, code review processes, and Agile development methodologies * No travel required * Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required /Belief in Diversity/ /Vocera Communications is an Affirmative Action Employer committed to workforce diversity.
