Your Opportunity
The newly formed Platform as a Service team has a vision to provide a transformative, scalable, secure, and efficient cloud offerings to the applications team in cost effective manner. This provides huge opportunity to streamline, innovate and build right cloud offerings for multi cloud data centre applications. The engineer will be part of Global Platform team and work based out of India Development to drive the cloud services adoption, solutions and support to the applications team and developers across the globe. The portfolio of cloud products involve from Data Platform, Streaming, Edge, Telemetry, DevOps, Data Stores, Caching, Messaging, API Gateways, Identity and Authorization, Integrations products. Your Role & Responsibilities: Walmart is looking for a passionate engineering manager with deep experience in cloud concepts, offerings, and the cloud services. You will provide the platform capabilities of evaluating, assessing, and certifying the right cloud offerings for the applications teams to leverage and build solutions on top of it.

• Analyze and understand the portfolio of cloud offerings by Microsoft Azure and Google cloud platform.

• Identify and compare the different offerings, services and provide a quick Point of View and Proof of Concept on how the offerings can be leveraged in the walmart context.

• Collaborate and work with the platform, Infosec and compliance teams to understand the standards and policies that needs to be reviewed and supported by the cloud offerings.

• Work with Cloud vendors (Microsoft, GCP) in getting the right support to approve the cloud services like (SQL, NoSQL, messaging etc.) to be adhered to walmart standards.

• Work closely with application teams in supporting the adoption and usage of cloud offerings in best possible architecture patterns.

• Perform standards hardening and tuning of the cloud services to meet the Platform standards.

• Partner with Adoption teams to improve product adoption by creating a seamless support & operations ecosystem that improves the Platform product offerings.

• Hire, mentor and lead by influence a world class group of engineers to build a highly engaged in-house cloud platform and products that operate at Walmart-scale

• Inculcate the culture and values of growth mindset, technical entrepreneurship, design thinking, engineering excellence, data first approach and innovation

• Role model for behaviors such as – being data intensive while taking everyday decisions, approach everyday problems with scientific temperament and rigor, having customer-first mind-set, maintaining highest standards for operational and engineering excellence

• Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products

• Guide engineering roadmaps for the team and help transition our platform to micro-services architecture using next-gen technologies

Your qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

• Overall 10+ years of industry experience and at least 2 -3 years of leadership experience in attracting talent, growing, mentoring and leading software engineering teams

• Strong hands-on experience in providing the solutions using cloud services and tools.

• Experienced in leading agile teams and well versed with agile methodology.

• Deep knowledge and work experience in the areas given below

o Cloud DevOps and CI CD experience o Terraform o Edge Solutions (CDN, Proxies, Routers) o Telemetry solutions (CloudWatch, Stack driver, Splunk, Prometheus) o Containerization solutions (AKS, GKE) o Understanding of Cloud networking and VPCs o Understanding of Cloud Security o Any one of programming language (Python, Java or GO)

• Strong technical background of cloud native architecture patterns and solutions, experience at least one complete life cycle journey of transformation of applications from private data center to public cloud.

• Sound understanding of architecturally significant requirements and patterns on high availability, resilient, high performance, multi-datacentre replications and scalable solutions.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, good with people, ability to negotiate and drive difficult conversation in influencing the product adoption.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment in technology-intensive, time-sensitive, geographically dispersed engineering organization across multiple locations and multiple domains.
• Proven ability to work in ambiguity and preparedness to get things done.
