About the Team Designs, builds and oversees the deployment and operation of technology architecture, solutions and software to capture, manage, store and utilize structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources. Establishes and builds processes and structures based on business and technical requirements to channel data from multiple inputs, route appropriately and store using any combination of distributed (cloud) structures, local databases, and other applicable storage forms as required. Â Develops technical tools and programming that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize and transform data and to maintain, defend and update data structures and integrity on an automated basis. Creates and establishes design standards and assurance processes for software, systems and applications development to ensure compatibility and operability of data connections, flows and storage requirements. Reviews internal and external business and product requirements for data operations and activity and suggests changes and upgrades to systems and storage to accommodate ongoing needs. Our Enterprise Architecture and Data Services team is currently looking for a Data Engineer. The Data Engineer will be an integral member of the Data Services Team in the BT Enterprise Architecture and Data organization. This is a hands-on role which will be responsible for design, development, and implementation of data integration, data warehouse and data mart solutions using cloud technologies. An ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the data warehouse and data engineering using latest tools and Open source frameworks. About the Enterprise Data Services Team: The Enterprise Data Services organization in Business Technology takes pride in enabling data driven business outcomes to spearhead Workday’s growth through trusted data excellence, innovation and architecture thought leadership. The team is responsible for developing and supporting Data Services, Data Warehouse, Analytics, MDM, Data Quality and Advanced Analytics/ML for multiple business functions including Sales, Marketing, Services, Support and Customer Experience. We leverage leading modern cloud platforms like AWS, Reltio, Tableau, Snaplogic, MongoDB in addition to the native AWS technologies like Spark, Airflow, Redshift, Sagemaker and Kafka Job Responsibilities :

• Work closely with operations and software engineering teams to design and implement scalable and high performance solutions for our platform as a service and internal management tools
• Drive automation of application deployment for production and pre-release environments
• Quickly and efficiently troubleshoot simple and complex issues in order to provide outstanding support for internal service level objectives
• Design, implement and manage continuous integration, build management and deployment scripts and systems
• Identify areas for process and efficiency improvement within Platform Services Operations; recommend solutions and assist in overseeing implementation. Actively facilitate continuous improvement
• Configure and install tools with a highly available architecture
• Optimize Redshift database for performance. Create password management strategy and implementation
• Create security standardized templates. Review resource configuration for maximum usage. Create a patching strategy
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux based systems
• Build and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of AWS infrastructure and systems
• Provision, configure and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure defined as code
• Ensure configuration and compliance with configuration management tools
• Monitor various systems capacity and health indicators and trends; provide analytics & forecasts for added or reduced capacity as required
• Perform basic Database management and administration activities on cloud databases such as Redshift, Snowflake, Mongo DB etc.

About You Basic Qualifications:

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience required
• 6+ years of established track record in architecting and engineering an data lake environment for data analytics
• Demonstrated ability to support and administer high volume pre-release and production environments for internal facing applications
• Extensive knowledge in managing S3 data layers and databases including Redshift and Postgres
• Expert knowledge in AWS resources including but not limited to VPC, subnets, network access control lists, security groups, EC2 instances, S3 buckets, IAM, Route 53, EMR
• Experience using an operational ticketing system to record changes and work history details such as JIRA, OTRS or Service Now.
• Understanding of automation practices throughout the development, build, and deployment phases of the application life-cycle
• Experience with Docker and deploying applications on AWS
• Experience developing cloud native CI/CD workflows and tools, such as Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity, Code Deploy (AWS) and/or GitLab.
• Should be able to configure message queues and other streaming services such as Kafka etc on AWS platform
• Solid foundation of networking and Linux administration
• Database Management experience on cloud databases such as Redshift, Snowflake, Mongo DB etc

Other Qualifications:

• WS Devops certification is desired but not mandatory
• Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
