Project description

• The candidate will be working on Metadata projects/components like Extracts, Core, RCS, CMP, CPI, DAQ, Data Mill, Music and legacy Ingest.
• The candidate will be working in metadata team which is the core of providing metadata information to various other downstream products and teams within the PAYTV division under XPERI
• Metadata Customers are worldwide, and they are spread across LTAM, EU and NA regions.
• Our technological stack includes MS SQL queries, SSIS, .Net framework, Java, AWS cloud and Kafka messaging system
• Desired candidate would be responsible for managing customer production issues on a daily basis
• Entire Metadata engineering is based out of Bangalore with few architects and complete business owners working out of US office
• This team is of utmost importance for leadership and executives since we are the owners for all kind of metadata that is consumed by various other teams under the PAYTV BU which is one of the 5 pillars of the company as a whole.
• The candidate will be looked upon for new solutions, designs, re-architecture of certain components that helps in resolving Customer issues/Escalations, New customer request and enabling our existing platform for future roadmaps.

Job purpose:

Short terms goal of working in this project would be to ensure

• There are no major customer escalations or down time
• Ensure on time and quality delivery of ongoing projects and programs adhering to SLAs and Customer acceptance criteria.
• Meeting the SLAs on Customer escalations and Production support issues on a daily basis
• Long Term goals of working in this project would be to ensure
• The legacy systems are solutioned for moving on to a new scalable platform/technology
• Continuous improvements in optimizing existing code bases
• Be the go to person for team members in providing code/design solutions and help the team in solving complex challenges.

Here’s what you get to do:

• Short term goals would be to
• Understand the design and architecture of Metadata Components and become comfortable with the existing solutions, design, architecture, and technical stack of the various components we have in Metadata
• Understand the existing code base of various Extracts like Spring Batch, IDS, and Rovi Video 1.x and 2.0 versions and components like DAQ, Data mill, CMP, CPI, Music and legacy Ingest
• Ensure the existing CI/CD process are adhered with
• Participate in sprint grooming, sprint planning and ensure tasks are assigned to team members with proper capacity planning
• Help in recruitment and training of new employees
• Start participating in key stakeholder meetings related to ongoing projects and programs in Metadata and prioritize deliverables by closely working with stakeholders
• Gain acceptance of engineers who would be reporting into you by having 1-0n-1 and winning their trust by maintaining a good working relationship with them
• Be the point of escalation for customer issues and RCAs in metadata
• Long term goals would be
• Be the coach and mentor for team members and develop a career path for them
• Provide constant feedback and ensure tracking of teams/engineer’s performances
• Ramp up in learning the metadata components and become a technical hands on first line manager there by guiding the team in providing innovative solutions for customer issues.
• Who we are looking for?
• Someone with engineering/master’s in computer science with not less than 70% aggregate from premier institutions
• Someone who is a hands-on tech savvy engineering manager who has managed team sizes of not less than 12-15 engineers and with an experience of 14-18 years preferably in product companies

Mandatory Skills

• Extensive SQL Server development experience. SQL and TSQL (Stored procedures, functions, advanced queries)·
• People management skills and must have been a people manager for 3 years·
• Excellent documentation skills (Excel, Word, Confluence) and communication skills.·
• Planning and estimation skills·
• Experience talking to vendors and Tech support (internal and external)·
• Experience in owning problems and pursuing answers to unknowns. Dogged determination·
• Cloud knowledge on AWS/Azure is a must.
• Nice to have/Pluses
• SSIS, SSRS·
• Development of SQL Server applications using external languages (particularly .Net and Java)·
• Some experience with CLR applications·
• Some NoSQL experiences

Top 3 primary skills and expertise level requirement ( 1 to 5; 5 being expert)

• Extensive SQL Server development experience. SQL and TSQL (Stored procedures, functions, advanced queries) – 5·
• People management skills·
• Ability to learn new products and become an hands-on technical manager

Overview of recruitment process
