Function Description –
Card & Merchant Accounting and Control (CMAC) team manages the accounting for $1.2 Tn of Card spend, Remittances and Merchant payments along with accounting for B2B processes amounting to $2B. which includes accounting for GCS Client Incentives, GNS Royalties, Merchant Rebates etc. and provide governance and oversight to unclaimed funds (Abandoned Property). This role is a part of B2B Accounting team within CMAC.
Purpose of the Role
Leading accounting for GMNS processes as per the aligned SLA’s for creation of complete & accurate financial statements
Responsibilities
Oversight and Management of accounting for B2B process (GMS & GNS) along with month end requirements and adequacy process
Interact with various work groups, viz. Pricing, LFO / Finance and Business Advisory Controllership teams to identify specific areas of focus and issues requiring leadership attention, flag any pressure points, and resolve time sensitive issues
Design and execution of a robust and sustainable model for monitoring and reporting of key measures of success for GMNS processes
Develop KPIs and reporting to ensure effective governance and create transparency with stakeholders on key metrics, potential issues and developing risks
Provide guidance on accounting and PRSA related matters in the processes.
Manage reconciliation of associated AXP B/S accounts.
Manage accounting for associated GNS processes like Third Party Benefits, No added Charge & other Process like ATM
Ensure compliance with all prevalent procedures and policies linked to the process. Besides the above, the position will work closely with CMAC leadership and be a part of the coordination and implementation of initiatives around operational transformation, data integrity and customer priorities

Qualifications
CA / CPA / MBA with 3-5 years of experience or Post Graduate in Commerce with 6-8 years of experience
Past Experience
Working knowledge of the GCS, GMNS business
Knowledge of Operational Risk, SOX, Control & Compliance, Accounting, and Audit.
Ability to think strategically and define what winning looks like
Have relationship skills necessary to partner, influence and drive results with cross-functional teams like Global Business Services, LFOs and Pricing across multiple time zones
Strong project management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, deliver results and manage multiple tasks without compromising on quality
Ability to work in a fast paced challenging environment supporting customer needs
Self starter, proactive and a team player who can efficiently and effectively work alone as well as in a team setting and one who can prioritize effectively
People Leadership experience with ability to motivate the team. Should have demonstrated “ Build the Best Team” as per the AXP Leadership model
Functional Skills
Strong understanding of end-to-end AR/AP process flow, accounting & reconciliation
Basic understanding of reporting
Ability to connect accounting & reporting
Understanding of financial consolidation process
Understanding of operational, SOX & other related control framework compliance
Ability to research & embed relevant best practices
Preferred: Project management
Technical Skills
Awareness of US GAAP/Local GAAP/IFRS (Accounting knowledge)
Analytical skills with the ability to undertake cause effect analysis
Knowledge of financial systems
Preferred:
Basic understanding & appreciation of automation capabilities; Understanding of business products
Knowledge of Platforms
Advanced MS office suits such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint
Preferred:
Ability to use analytical tools for financial systems such as Oracle, IRIS, OBIEE, Essbase, Hyperion Financial Reporting (HFR), etc.
