• Conduct basic and applied research in architectural coatings and additives.
• Develop new products and refine existing products. Participate in the product development process in the R&D department.
• Benchmark existing products against competition as per standard test protocols & conduct frequent sample audit testing of production batches of our commercial products.
• Prepare, test, and compare experimental samples. Conduct artificial weathering & natural exposure studies to evaluate coatings performance in terms of weathering properties.
• Monitor different weathering instruments to run standard test protocols.
• Evaluate paint’s application performance, conduct comparison studies, and provide feedback to improve performance.
• Substantiate, review, and justify conclusions reached by department activity.
• Awareness about new upcoming trends & technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Literature survey and understanding latest developments in emulsions, additives, and coatings market. Conduct competitive benchmarking product analyses and provide essential inputs on product performance gaps and advantages to help the company build new product development strategies. Direct and lead activity to develop new technologies & test methods/standards as per the company strategy. Ability to analyze the data, test results, and report the conclusions effectively. Substantiate, review and justify conclusions reached by Research and Development department activity. Awareness about different substrates such as wood, concrete, masonry. Initiate studies to improve the performance of existing products. Direct raw material evaluation tests and product performance studies including exposure & application studies. Select, test, and evaluate new raw materials to determine their quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness of materials. Provide leadership and guidance to Junior Chemists and Senior Lab Technicians to include training and monitoring of performance and in assigning more challenging projects. Conduct competitive benchmarking product analyses and develop product development strategies. Work on new test method development & technologies. Participation in BPRC Ideation Program Follow lab safety guidelines and regulations. Expect a high level of self-motivation and excellent communication skills. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING: Educational attainment equivalent to an advanced degree in Chemistry or a related field Thorough experience in chemical analysis and industrial research applications Educational attainment equivalent to M.Sc., B. Tech or M.Tech (Chemistry/ Paint/ Polymer / Coatings). KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Knowledge of basic lab skills. Knowledge of chemical lab safety guidelines and regulations. Thorough working knowledge of advanced math and chemistry and their applications. Thorough working knowledge of chemical formulation and composition as applied to research. Knowledge of raw materials and proper equipment to be used in testing practices. Knowledge of production operations and processing methods. Knowledge of quality and process improvement concepts, principles, and methodologies. Knowledge of quality control standards and practices Ability to work & monitor modern technologies and advanced instruments. Ability to use a computer, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and software systems. Ability to train and educate technical personnel in a wide range of technical areas. Ability to solve difficult problems and effectively participate in innovative research. Ability to plan, organize, and complete work as scheduled. Ability to maintain laboratory research and testing records. Ability to exercise initiative in designing and implementing independent chemical research. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to understand the reasons behind the testing procedures. Ability to make some analysis and draw conclusions on work performed.
