Location: Noida, South Asia, IN
Company: British Council
The British Council builds connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and other countries through arts and culture, education and the English language.
We work in two ways – directly with individuals to transform their lives, and with governments and partners to make a bigger difference for the longer term, creating benefit for millions of people all over the world. We help young people to gain the skills, confidence and connections they are looking for to realise their potential and to participate in strong and inclusive communities. We support them to learn English, to get a high-quality education and to gain internationally recognised qualifications. Our work in arts and culture stimulates creative expression and exchange and nurtures creative enterprise. We connect the best of the UK with the world and the best of the world with the UK.
These connections lead to an understanding of each other’s strengths and of the challenges and values that we share. This builds trust between people in the UK and other nations which endures even when official relations may be strained. We work on the ground in more than 100 countries. In 2019-20 we connected with 80 million people directly and with 791 million overall, including online and through our broadcasts and publications.
Job Title:Data Analyst – CRM 1
Purpose of job:
Responsible for delivering against defined data initiatives within the ‘Technical, reporting and data’ stream within CRM Operations team, in support of the initiatives of the CRM system within the British Council. Specifically, to prepare data for upload, upload, add, delete, amend, merge, restructure and migrate data, and to deliver regular reporting from the CRM system.
This is a hands-on job to support the work of our data team.
Role context
The British Council launched Global (Salesforce) CRM as a global solution in 2011. There are currently around 1700 regular users across 50+ locations. To date, the majority of our users have worked in customer service or consumer sales, and the need to ‘prepare data for upload, upload, add, delete, amend, merge, restructure and migrate data’ has been limited. However, in May 2018, we re-launched CRM for use by British Council staff in business-to-business (‘B2B’) and business-to-government (‘B2G’) roles, and this involves significant data support work through to the end of the current CRM programme, in October 2019.
One key initiative for the re-launch is to clean up and restructure existing ‘B2B/G’ data (several thousand records) that have built up over the last five years in a largely unmanaged way. Going forward, the main focus will, however, be on working with data currently in Excel spreadsheets or Outlook, cleaning that data for upload, uploading said data, and addressing duplication/merging issues arising in those uploads. In addition, there will be a need to assist the data lead in migrating data from other systems into Global CRM.
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries. We do this by making a positive contribution to the UK and the countries we work with – changing lives by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust.
We work with over 100 countries across the world in the fields of arts and culture, English language, education and civil society. Each year we reach over 20 million people face-to-face and more than 500 million people online, via broadcasts and publications. Founded in 1934, we are a UK charity governed by Royal Charter and a UK public body.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion:
The British Council is committed to a policy of equal opportunity and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community. We work to ensure that people are not unjustifiably discriminated against on the basis of gender, including transgender, marital status, sexual identity, religion and belief, political opinion, race, work pattern, age, disability or HIV/AIDS status, socio-economic background, spent convictions, trade union activity or membership, on the basis of having or not having dependants, or any other irrelevant grounds.
