Roles and Responsibilities – IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer (Brief Overview)

• System & Hardware Installation: Responsible for setting up and configuring hardware such as servers, workstations, and projectors, ensuring all devices are properly installed and functional.
• Network & Server Administration: Maintain and manage core IT infrastructure including servers, Cisco routers and switches, firewalls, LAN, and VPN connections to ensure uninterrupted network operations.
• Troubleshooting Support: Diagnose and resolve issues related to both data and voice networks, minimizing downtime and ensuring service continuity.
• Team Training & Technical Support: Train new staff on the IT environment and tools, and support the internal IT team with guidance and technical assistance as needed.
• IT Planning & Solutions: Analyze business requirements to plan IT infrastructure improvements and recommend effective technology solutions to address operational challenges.
• Operating System & Scripting Proficiency: Utilize strong knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux environments along with scripting capabilities to automate and streamline IT tasks.
• Network Protocols & Security: Apply expertise in routing, switching, and network security principles to maintain efficient and secure IT infrastructure.
• Help Desk & Ticketing Management: Oversee IT support operations through ticketing systems, ensuring timely response and resolution of user issues.
• Data Center & Server Maintenance: Manage the upkeep of critical systems such as data centers, syslog servers, and proxy servers, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in IT or a related field.
• IT certifications (such as CCNA, MCSA, or CompTIA) are preferred.
• 3–6 years of hands-on experience in IT support roles with a focus on data and voice networks.
