The Data Analytics Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Candidate’s required/essential experience

• Ability to take client requirements, understand and document them to and turn them in technical user stories.

• Understanding how the full suite of Power BI products work is essential (embedded, Reporting Services)

• Confident communicating with stakeholders of all levels including the ability to advise, train and support staff and clients where necessary

• Strong data analysis skills and proficient in DAX queries, SSAS and Excel.

• Has capability to also unit test and show the results.

Key Responsibilities

• Ingesting data from a variety of corporate data sources and performing required transformations in the Power BI query editor using a mixture of utilizing the UI and writing M code.

• Utilizing effectively the navigation features in Power BI (e.g. bookmarks, drill-through) to guide readers through a compelling data-driven story.

• Provide technical support and guidance through prototyping, testing, build, and launch of Power BI products.

• Developing calculations in DAX which are accurate and performant on large datasets.

• Designing effective layouts using Data Visualisations best practises.

• Undertaking data analyses to support decision making

• Develop production-ready Reports, Dashboards and deploy to corporate platform

• Develop user manual / training documentation

• Advanced Excel Skills beneficial

• Competent in developing engaging and effective data visualisations

• Strong data analysis skills

• Proficient in writing SQL, DAX, and M

• An in-depth understanding of how the Power BI Service works

• Knowledge of SSAS (Tabular and Multi-dimensional) , Flow and Power Apps beneficial

• Ability to take client requirements, understand them and turn them into a powerful story told through engaging visuals in Power BI

• Confident communicating with stakeholders of all levels including the ability to advise, train and support staff and clients where necessary

• Self-starter/able to work independently

• A track record of working in an agile environment (Scrum)

• Ability to organise and manage own time according to agreed project priorities and deadlines

• Experience in working at all stages of the project lifecycle

Qualifications:

• 6-10 years experience usisng codes for statistical modeling of large data sets

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
